Hello everybody.

Does anybody find delays with Royal Mail

It seems if you send a letter 2nd class it gets there next day if you send an item larger then a letter it is meant to arrive next day however it has not yet arrived to the destination.

I posted parcel Monday - 12:16 in afternoon not yet got to where it needs to be.

Anybody else have trouble currently with Royal Mail?

Yes.

A hundred years ago they used to deliver 3 times a day and 1st class got there before it was sent. 2nd class came before breakfast and 3rd class came at lunch time.

They even delivered all your cards on Christmas morning.

Fast forward to today and they cannot deliver a letter from one end of the street to the other the next day despite sending it on a 400 mile round trip to a centralised sorting office in the name of efficiency.

If 1st class cannot get there before you go to work what point is there to a 1st class post ?

From what you say it sounds like you are sending a large packet second class, this generally takes 3-5 working days as standard. It does seem to have slowed down, ironically just before the price hike!

Yes we have noticed too that packets easily take 4-5 working days whether first or second class.

I have seen them come with ours in a large sack once a week as they don't seem to deliver them all daily but wait for a quieter moment to shift the backlog.

It is quite possible royal mail could be delaying 2nd class on purpose to force sellers to send 1st class, they hit us hard with the new pricing structure they are obviously wanting to take a large bite out of online retail to make up for the downturn on standard paper post. Call me cynical but they stand to profit from this approach and if they wanted to support ecommerce they wouldn't have screwed us in the last hike.

I very much doubt it was Royal Mail's decision to hike the prices up. I'm of the opinion that it was something to do with the government and privatisation.

Parcel Force are no better. I recently sent a package on express24. It spent four days rattling around in the receiving depot as it was passed from one 'department' to another before then taking a further three days to reach its destination.

You can claim a partial refund (which is inexcusable in itself) online but they make you jump through hoops to do it. I'll bet that's what they're banking on... shysters.

I made sure I jumped through those hoops though because they shouldn't be getting away with it!

Hello it is Friday today and our customer still does not have the parcel, We paid first class delivery for this item to get there.
They have said there is a processing issue in the mail center where my post is going from to the customer however I am not too sure.

So it seems like many of you on here are having some delays.

Ouch, yes unfortunately so, had more losses as well since the price hike but that may just be coincidence as the data set is too small and erratic to draw a decent conclusion from. Unfortunately I haven't found a decent alternative for small parcels either, we are really caught between a rock and a hard place and it is us as retailers that look bad when we have to start charging more for shipping and items are delayed or lost even though we do our best to provide the best service possible our end.

Si I should not be worrying somebody has nicked the item?

Well thats possible too, but you can't do anything about it until 15 days have passed. If there are actually problems at the sorting office then that may be the reason, I would give it until wednesday and then start worrying. It is not looking hopeful though 7 days is quite common for 2nd class and I wouldn't think twice but first class I would expect it to really be there by now.

But are these delays justified? I spoke to a complaint adviser and they said its
"standard procedure" for delays I was shocked by this.
