Hi, i have business and use Google places and maps etc. It's a local business. I have recently received a very negative review by a customer and have explored some avenues in getting it removed however the customer is adamant that he doesn't want remove it. I have tried some methods through Google, as in I flagged it and filed the legal report however its been nearly a month and nothing has changed. This review is hurting our business now and I need some advice on anything I can do to get it removed. We will explore ways in which we get other costumers to add more reviews to maybe drown it. However, I really need a way to get rid of this one. Is deleting my local listing an option?

How is it hurting your business?
Having been a power seller on eBay with 150k transactions annually, you can refund a customer, and offer £50 on top not to leave you negative feedback and they still do.

These narrow minded people on the internet take petty delight in this.

I would suck this up and counteract with with more positive reviews. I've seen on Tripadvisor where pople say "Well ignore the 1 star review some people cannot be pleased" and to me this sounds like it.

It's taken me a decade not to get annoyed by neutral or negative reviews, nowadays I just shrug and think that person isn't worth my brain space, move on, and tackle the positive things in life rather than focussing on the negative.

TL;DR You can never go through life without having experienced negative reviews online

I agree with 1weekseo. Try your best to dilute its affects with good reviews. There is a recent very good thread about encouraging Google reviews in the SEO, PPC,Online Marketing section.

Maybe try to up the amount of testimonials on your site to counteract. I totally understand your frustration if the review is unfair.
Hope it all works out for you John
    All the best,

A lot of people don't trust websites which exclusively have 5* reviews, it looks a bit suspect. A 1* review isn't bad but if the rest of your reviews are positive, and you clearly address the issue the 1* review raises. It'll make your business seem more real.
