We are in the process of moving from bt business to zen but it has been suggested that we cannot migrate our lines as at the moment they are feartureline compact enabled.

Does anybody know if bt will try and charge us to remove the featureline compact from these lines? (We are out of contract)

I am sure you can!

I had it (not sure if compact, but probably was) and migrated at least one number to Voipfone.

What did BT say when you called them?

You should be able to move them over without a problem, although you will loose the "Featureline" features as that is a BT Retail product only.

When customers move line to us from BT Retails we simply initiate the transfer and the featureline will be dropped when the line moves to us.

Is it definitely the Featureline aspect Zen are having an issue transferring?

Thanks for the responses, I'm not fussed about losing the feature line it was just that the sales advisor at Zen suggested that they may not be able to transfer the lines over if they had features enabled on them (I just presumed they would port over as standard lines). So to that end I'm going to try and get BT to remove the feature line before we attempt to migrate everything, I was just wondering if BT will try and charge us for this, I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they say.

You cannot transfer away from BT if you have a featureline. You must first get BT to convert this to an ordinary phone line. DO NOT let BT trap you into a new 1 year contract to do this. They can (and have for me) convert a feature line to an ordinary line and let you terminate with no penalty on that ordinary line. It takes a few weeks to do, but well worth it to leave BT behind.

You shouldn't really need to get them to remove the feature line.

Since a report in about 2005 a WLR (the system Zen will use) like-for-Like transfer will trigger the removal of the featureline and convert it to a standard PSTN.
