Remote Card Payments

Good afternoon

We're looking to change our card payment processing service. We currently have a SumUp account, but they are removing the "virtual terminal" facility, in favour of something called "payment links". The virtual terminal meant that our clients could call us to pay and we'd take card details over the phone, payment links mean we'll need to send the client a link so that they can log in and enter their details. I won’t go into details but suffice to say that the payment links facility isn't a practical option for us and we need the simplest method possible for our clients. I know payment links may be considered safer/less risk, but the volume and value of payments are low.

With the above in mind, does anyone have any recommendations for/experience of "out of the box" card payment processing whereby we can take payment details over the phone and in person?

The simplest method is choice - offer a payment link and call option.

Not sure about Sum Up, but other providers (e.g. Square?) offer this or, as mentioned, a proper merchant account, however, be aware of all of the costs, not just the headline rate.

If he's processing £15k a month SumUp & Square will be far more expensive than any traditional merchant account.

Probably by at least 2-3 times.

Hi, thanks for the replies

We had a SumUp account, but they've pulled the virtual terminal in favour of payments link. We only process a couple of handfulls of payments per month, and they are relatively low value, but payment links simply wouldnt be practical for us.

On Friday we registered with Square - in less time than it took to raise queries with and get answers from SumUp, we were registered and processing payments!

Thanks again.

If he is taking +/-£1500 a full merchant account would be better, but we don't have that info!

Hey Tyia,

It sounds like you're looking for a link payment method after reading this?

Correct me if i'm wrong, We offer link payments by emai/text, Virtual terminals and also would have the face to face option which could offer customer not present transactions.

With our next day settlement and partnership with Barclaycard you know your clients money is in safe hands.

If you want to speak to one of ours experts Click Here or you can message me also.

Thanks

Hi Matthew

Firstly, my name isn't Tyia (that's why it's capitalised). Secondly, if you've read my post and subsequent replies you'll know that (a) we specifically aren't looking for a payment link method and (b) we have now found a solution.

Thanks, Neil

Good afternoon,

Paytia can get you signed up to a Virtual Terminal for Stripe Payment Gateway in under 5 minutes. What's more Paytia's phone payment solution doesn't require the customer to read out their credit card details, keeping your business compliant in the eyes of PCI DSS and GDPR.

Please do get into contact with us at Paytia.com/contact where a member of the team would be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Henry
