Registering my business at 16

So I'm currently 16 and bringing in around £1,500 a month but my business would be a lot better if it was actually registered.

filefire.org - would be nicer with the Ltd ;) - so anyway, I don't mind spending up to around £125 registering it, but I want to do it with my home protection as being 16 I don't have an office or anything, and I wouldn't like people my age who SWAT people etc having my address.

If you could point me in the right direction, it'd be fantastic! Also, where's the best place for a business bank account? Thanks!

Firstly, well done at starting your own business and bringing in a tidy income for your age :)

Secondly, have you registered self employed ? You need to do so straight away if not.

Thirdly, you can start a Ltd company via the Companies House website and it will cost you about £18, not £125. There is no need to use an agent, its quite straight forward but you will have to give your home address as a director. Any reason why this concerns you ?

You do not have to publish your home address as a director for a start. Even without hiding it, you are completely fine to use a service address, which would be public and your home address could remain hidden. You could, for instance, use a virtual office or an accountant or your mate down the road.

It doesn't matter really but it is probably useful to do it properly and somewhere which can take care of the technical side of keeping a Ltd., such as having to have this and that kept at the registered address. A load of nonsense in reality but it has to be done. You'll also need to protect yourself with various insurances.

As to not using an agent to incorporate, then that is fine as well. Co House charge £15.00 to do it yourself and it is really straightforward. http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/infoAndGuide/companyRegistration.shtml

None of my companies have my address on them. They all go through an office address but I have bank stuff sent directly to me.

You should hold ship for a while until you've gained some reputation. Your main customer base seems to be coming from a potential fraud scene. Watch out that your CPA sites don't catch on and suspend your earnings.

Also what sets you apart from your direct competitor? FileIce and Sharecash? FI was on HF before you and they've already built up a huge reputation.

As for setting it up as a company - you'll need to contact Companies House, it's cheap and straightforward.
