Referrals - how does it work?

I notice that I now have a referral on my profile. How very exciting!
A few questions:

1. Do I get a prize/award for this (I think I deserve one)
2. Who was it put me down as the referrer - is that a word? - ?
3. Who holds the current record for referrals - is it Jayne?

Referrals are a standardized part of Vbulletin. When people sign up they have the option of entering the name of the person who referred them. If the admin of the forum wishes to do so he/she can make use of it and offer things like prizes and additional features.

However as far as I'm aware UKBF doesn't make use of this feature so in this case it's useless.

I actually plan to offer free advertising on these forums to the ones who bring the most referrals. It can actually be automated by having a link to these forums with a referral code in it.

If you enable the User Referrer system, then a user who visits your forum through a link that contains 'referrerid=XXX' will give referral credit to the owner of the referrerid when they register (where XXX is the userid of the referring user).

To be honest I think affiliate schemes are one of the best advertisement methods ever created. It's a worthwhile feature.

There isn't one they simply quote your username during registration. Well it used to be like that anyway...

You should be able to see your referral ID by visiting this page

Also if you use the 'refer this page to a friend' link it has your referral ID built into it.
