Morning

Can I ask how do you recruit new staff?

Which methods have you found work the best?

We currently run ads in our local press & jobcentre but don't seem to be getting the response we would like.

I prefer to use recruitment agencies..... I know they have a 12 - 17% fee of the starting salary, but they take the risk in attracting the right potential talent and the I have no risk till I have found the right employee..... When you find the right person they are valuable and I'm pleased to pay the fee..

For me local adds etc does not work..... but I have a new site being launched in a few days and That has a specific recruitment page optimised for web seasrches to help me build a CV bank for the future.

Good luck

As an agency we have over 330,000 people on our database, if you go through my franchise.

I offer a different deal with perms

Perm Placement 10% of Salary, - New Idea

Payment arrangements would be: Pay Rate + Holiday & NI + Mark Up = Charge Rate for 2 weeks. The mark up for the 2 weeks to be deducted off fee when going to Perm.

I think then you will get the feel of the candidate as well and them with you which then insures you get the right person for the job cuts out the refunds and paperwork arguments if we had just placed someone it that doesn’t like it after a day or 2.

Probably not relevant here but remember the flipside - how recruitment agencies are viewed by switched on jobseekers.

I got so cheesed off when I was looking for work of applying for jobs that, with hindsight, didn't exist and were there purely so the agency could harvest my cv and waste my time that I filtered the various jobsites so that only directly advertised jobs by employers would show up.

I have people phoning me up looking for work all the time. I suspect some are competitors wanting to see how I work, so I make them all send me a CV before I decide to send information out so at least I feel I've had some of their personal info before I send mine out!

I also end up with a lot of 'friends of friends' or 'grown-up children of friends', and have even had some clients offer to help me out at busy times!

Every now and then I put a message on my website saying due to high demand I can't take any more work, and that brings in another flood of calls offering to work with me.

    Hi,

Have you tried placing an ad on Gumtree? We've used that several times and found some excellent candidates...It's somewhere where people don't alwasys think to place an ad but alot of people use it to advertise vacancies including agencies...plus it's free :)

And as an aside, I have five separate profiles registered with tiptopjob.com.

    Five different email addresses.

Tonight I've received the same identical email to each mailbox account asking me if I've been involved in a no-fault accident in the past three years and promising me wealth beyond my wildest imaginations if I have.

So tiptopjob.com are clearly flogging details to ambulance chasers.

I'd advise avoiding them if you want to place an advertisement with an agency.

It depends what type of jobs it is. I found the job centre sent me all the wrong candidates at first, then I fine-tuned the ad and got a more decent batch of people.

Adverts in local press worked best for me but as someone said, it's all in the wording of the ad!
