Hi Guys

My Magento Hosting is up for re-newal at the end of March and unfortunately at present I can't be certain that in 12 months time I'll still be trading, but my current host want another 12 month contract.

I've been frank with them and said I would prefer a rolling 30-60 or even 90 days contract; rather than doing 12 months and know that by month 5 I may not have a business anymore and not have a need for a website and so will stop paying the bill and close the company. Surely it is better to get paid for as long as possible rather than not getting paid at all?

What recommendations can you make for a good Magento Host who can offer shorter contract lengths?

I have used a company called Pixelmate for years and they are very good. Adam Fletcher is the man to talk to - 07825 133568 - he may be able to help with a rolling contract

Have you ever thought about replatforming to something like Shopify @Sparetoolparts? Their platform is phenomenal and checkout even better. Their Black Friday conversion numbers were out of this world. If I was to suggest a host I would also suggest Krystal, but if it was platforms I'd 100% be looking to migrate to Shopify. You'll see records numbers as soon as you do. Good luck with finding something mate.

Shopify Drove peak numbers for a reason this Black Friday gone. Number 1 being its seamless checkout experience compared to any other platform on the internet.

This alone is proof...if you look against other platform numbers.

No it's not proof that just by using Shopify you'll get more traffic and sales, it's simply proof that Shopify have done very good marketing and have a large number of users.

For example we've built a clone on the Shopify checkout in OpenCart which makes it just as good.

It's not going to generate more traffic, I agree. Generating traffic is all in your marketing, but 100% it's going to generate more revenue and better conversion.

I would love to see an example of your checkout on open cart! Sounds pretty cool. Can I find a demo somewhere?

Well you did say above "you'll see record numbers as soon as you do" which I think is a bit of an exaggeration ;)

Neat, what was the reasons you tried to copy the Shopify checkout?

I gave Hobby Mounts a little test there. Did they opt not to use address lookup at checkout?

Client request. But clearly Shopify are doing something right with the amount of research they've given everything.

They didn't want to pay extra for that unfortunately.

It's upsetting to hear about more Magento hosting providers using long-term contracts, preventing customers the flexibility to choose services based on performance and satisfaction rather than obligation. It speaks volumes about a company's confidence in the quality of its services and its commitment to customer satisfaction.

At Everyhost, we share a different philosophy. We believe that the quality of our hosting services should encourage our clients to stay with us, not contractual obligations. Our approach is to provide reliable, high-performance Magento hosting that empowers our clients' e-commerce success, with the freedom to stay because they see the value, not because they're tied down.

I understand there might be concerns about the longevity of businesses offering no-contract services. However, it's worth noting that, in addition to our hosting solutions, we provide comprehensive marketing and SEO advice and products. This holistic approach not only supports our clients' immediate hosting needs but also assists in their long-term growth and online presence, demonstrating our commitment to their success and our confidence in our business model.

For any business considering their Magento hosting options or looking to enhance their e-commerce strategy with effective marketing and SEO support, we invite you to explore what Everyhost has to offer. We're passionate about helping businesses thrive online, not just through hosting but with a full suite of services designed to optimise their online success.

Ne probably did, then sobered up!

There are plenty of options, some listed here. You might also consider spinning up your own server - could be cheaper, but you do need some experience/support as, like anything, you do need to learn a little!
