That's not really brand marketing.

I would have thought a better use of your time would be to promote the business not the brand. Forget content marketing, that's not going to acheive anything useful and social media works best if people recommend you rather than you post about the deals.

Maybe it would be better to begin with developing a marketing strategy as this will determine the best way to promote the business.

PS, spotted a whole load of things you could do to improve the site. Why not post in the website review forum.

So what would you call brand marketing? Isn't it getting the brand recognized.

You do have some strange views... Why would i forget content marketing when it could be picked up by major sites and also shared via social media. If its decent well written content.

PS, I am having the site completely redone on a new platform.

Yes, but content marketing won't acheive this. In any case, why do you want to market the brand? What do you expect to achieve from this?

Because this just doesn't happen anymore. Content marketing is no better than the old article submission and recent guest blogging.

If you want to get people looking to buy a business visiting your site you need to be ranking on Google across all your target locations. You aren't going to achieve this by scraping content.

When you look online for things want do you do? Do you immediately head for a brand or do you search for the item?

People don't buy business every day. It's a long considered process. They won't be looking for you (or any other listing site), they will be looking for the business they want to buy.

If you want to be the equivalent of daltons, rightbiz or businessesforsale you need a budget of hundreds of thousands.

You need to be #1 on Google for all the local listings across the country and you need to employ a whole load of people the manage the listings and maintain the website. It's not something you can do at home.

I worked with a company in Germany doing something very similar and even after spending €50,000 they still couldn't make it work.

Still going to cost you megabucks. The website isn't the problem, it's the cost of marketing that's the issue. A budget of £1000/month would be a good figure to start with.

Consider also that your marketing plan will dictate the structure and content of the site. so it might be a bit premature to get a new site built until you know how you want to market the business.

Yes that's what i was thinking budget wise, i could go up to as much as £4000 per month for the right marketing.

I know the marketing is the biggest cost, but i am quite happy to go for less competition keywords to gain some momentum, then start hitting the big keywords.

Right. Then change what you are doing and go niche. It's more lucrative and easier to market. My point about building the website still stands. It's far too early get a new site built.

What niche you choose depends on how much work you want to do.

I will recommend you to first invest on getting a marketing plan for your business. Finalize a marketing plan by getting it from 2 - 3 freelance people and then you will have a better idea on what points you have to invest more and where you can use free and paid marketing.

Depending upon the budget you are going to invest on monthly basis, I will recommend you to first go for the marketing plan. At least a 3 - 6 months strategy.

Start small and then increase budget slowly on every point.

thanks

How much you spend will depend on what it actually is your trying to promote / sell - and well your competition is entrenched in the market already.

Is it a new product ?, how is it different to the competition ? , Are you offering the same product but just with a different name etc. Only when someone knows this sort of info can they get anywhere near advising on what to do next.

Getting content 'out there' is one thing, raising brand awareness etc is another , and getting your SEO right is another aspect again.

If time is not an issue to you, and it was my product this is what I would do.
Pay for some professional video / infogram type work, that showcases your product and why's better / cheaper / faster etc. Video converts better that page after page of text - so we are told, and in my experience true.

Videos in place, put them on the all the usual platforms, YouTube,Vimeo,FaceBook etc. Before doing that make sure your website is in place regarding landing pages etc and people can buy your product.

Use something like buzzbundle - to create a project that monitors everything / everywhere re mentions of your product or your competitors products. When it flags up a conversation / discussion - join that conversation in buzzbundle - either as yourself or just a Joe Bloggs type character (anonymous mode). Inform people of the product, what you used it for, why's better, link to the video / website. Let nature take it's course.

Rinse and repeat, at least that way - you will get natural feedback about your product - make adjustments if necessary as well as at the same time garner some interest.

Compare that to going all in gun hoe thinking you have the best product, you know what your customers want etc - only to find out youve got it wrong or your spent 1000's of hard earned on a campaign that has failed - badly.

Just my 2p worth of what I'd do, if I had a killer new product.

Here is a video demo - very similar to how I use it
