Possibly. Google warn against the use of such tools as it is against their T&C. In any case, because you are looking for worldwide visitors to your RV hire site, any rank checking tool is pointless. Different countries will see different results.

what webgeek said is correct as of today and i agree totally, that particular rank checker is able to use behind proxies which is not a bad idea if you want to check 50+ keywords all at one time.

Although i have used the firefox plugin and for me it did not work as well.

There is still actually an arguement that i have not proved yet but am working on to prove either way that instead of harming your serps - it actually increases your ranking.

What i mean by that is there is widespread talk that the more your site is searched for and visited when searched for with keywords that this in turn helps your rank within Google.

Whilst the Rank Checker by link assistant technically just inputs your search term into the respected search engines and then just stops when it sees your URL, it does leave a footprint of your main URL into the search engines (unless you only search for 1 keyword at a time)

I know i have gone a bit off subject slightly, but for what people say about it harming your serps, i think there is also enough to put a claim for it benefiting your serps

Im sorry but that is bollox.

Only the keyword is entered into google and then the data is parsed by the software to find where your site sits. Google doesnt see your URL and the only risk is that your physical ip address of the network where your PC is gets flagged up and like webgeek says, you will have to enter captchas for a while.

What SEOswat is describing is something entirely different. The actual clickthrough from the serps to a site is postulated to be a positive ranking factor but this is nothing to do with this type of software as nothing is clicked and big G dont see the URL.

Have you ever used rank-tracker, because your reply suggests a total lack of understanding? It is probably the industry standard rank-tracking tool for SEOs, and your comment about different countries seeing different results indicates that you have not actually used it (properly at least).

In answer to the original question.... no this tool will not cause issues for you if you use it. We actually use it as a reporting tool for our clients, and if properly setup it can allow you to safely check rankings for a huge volume of keywords safely.

Using rank-tracker you can start to fine tune your SEO campaign, tracking individual keywords performance on a daily basis. You can include a huge variety of metrics within the data, which really lets you fine-tune your activities for each keyword.

Like any SEO tool, make sure you do your research before using it, and ensure that your configuration matches your goals. I wouldnt describe it as a click-and-go solution, but if you have time and money to invest it is well worth the investment.

    Andrew,

RankTracker is an excellent piece of software for checking site SERP rankings. We use it inhouse with absolutely no issues. The key point to remember is to use a number of proxies (ideally private ones) to override Google's API Limits on requests, and to simulate organic search requests.
