Sales Operation

Qype have just launched a sales operation based in Central London and we have noticed that with most sales teams they are a little over excited to sell whilst still learning about the great features and delivery of the Qype product range.

We are working to remove any hard sell techniques from the sales process and focus on presenting the products, services and delivery.

As part of our new product range we offer a Money Back Guarantee based on customer delivery - We are that confident on the product working for you. The price does vary based on category but I can advise that the monthly payment option is designed to make payment easier rather than one big cost upfront.

Here's some feedback for you Richard:

I took up the offer of a premium listing from one of your sales guys 3 months ago.

I have had a mere 7 referrals from your site since joining. I then called today and referred to your Money Back Guarantee as I am not happy and want a full refund. However I was told that I have to wait to see what the results are like after a year.

This is not good enough. Please advise.

Regards,
Damian

Hi Damian,

Let me get the hard facts out of the way and then I can begin to discuss the options.

1. All customers who buy advertising from Qype are asked to read and agree to the Terms and Conditions of sale
4.10

Money back guarantee (only for Premium Partner registered by telephone). Qype Ltd guarantees the number of five hundred (500) Guaranteed Potential Customers (GPC) for their Premium Partner product over the term of 12 months, failure to reach the Guaranteed Potential Customers purchased over the term of the contract will lead to a full refund. This means that your Business will be seen a minimum of 500 times.
Point 1. We realise that advertising online is not a quick win process and we commit to delivering 500 potential customers to your business page on Qype over the period of 12 months, this time frame and volume is something we place the money back guarantee around. As you will notice once logged in to your account we also give you the reporting access to monitor this.

If after 12 months we have missed the Guarantee then we do offer 'full money back'. Some customers see these annual volumes in the first few months and some see it over the 12 months of the contract.

Point 2: Every business is different and we work very hard to ensure our product offers the best results and indeed can be related down to a return on investment. It's incredibly hard for some business's to identify leads from advertising and also the value. One converted lead over 12 months to a conservatory sales company can deliver over £1k in profit which counters the costs.

Point 3: We do understand that for some businesses we may not be the right advertising channel and for such businesses we have included in our terms a 6 months exit clause. It's the correct amount of time for both of us to know if we are able to succeed. It can take us up to 8 weeks to index new content in search, seasonality etc
9. PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION TO PREMIUM SERVICE BY TELEPHONE

You can also subscribe to Premium Service (as defined hereabove) by telephone. In this case, these Terms & Conditions also apply in their entirety with the exception of the rules below. The subscription by phone is available only as part of Annual Subscription. Notwithstanding to provision 5.2., the Partner will be entitled to terminate its subscription to the Service only by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt addressed to Qype and marked "termination package subscribed telephonically.” Termination can not enter into force until thirty (30) days after receipt of this letter, i.e. from the date of acknowledgment of receipt by us. Furthermore, this cancellation can only enter into force past the first six (6) months of contract.
I can advise you that we try to consider the best policy's, products and services to best suit our advertiser base to achieve a 'win win' service but as you can appreciate this is not always possible.

If you have any suggestions that you feel would make our business offering more appealing or successful for you then please feel free to contact me directly.

We continue to grow and help thousands of businesses every day, I can only apologise if you feel that Qype was not right for your needs at this time.

Regards
Richard

Hi Everyone,
I signed up with Qype a few months ago after their sales woman sold their services well (as you would expect).
However, I have had nothing from Qype since giving my money over. All of the promises of ongoing help and support have never materialised and I have had no clients as a direct result of listing with them.
I am a new business and I am paying £208 for absolutely nothing it seems.
I too wrote to cancel my contract and was told that I cannot for a period of 6 months at least.
It is all just one big con in my opinion. They promise you the world to get you to join but then you are left to fall flat on your face alone thereafter. 6 months of taking people's money is still going to be very profitable for them.
Also, what is not said is that for anyone to leave a review for you, they have to sign up. No-one wants to do that as they don't want to be bombarded with advertising emails and suchlike, so the amount of people that will actually leave you a review is going to be small.
I would advise anyone NOT to sign up with them.
I had never heard of them either but really needed the exposure so I took a chance. I got my fingers burnt as a result.
I have never heard of anyone that speaks highly of Qype.I wish to God I had never picked up the telephone to them in the first place. I have wasted a lot of money that is very precious in the early stages of setting up business.
I have NOTHING good to say about them AT ALL!!!

Dont waste your money. FreeIndex - between 2 and 5 calls per month, Qype - still waiting for for first call except for the two dozen calls from Qype trying to sell me an upgrade

Qype Suck

As a retailer I try a free entry on all these online directories I come across. My philosophy is that if I get any useful response from a free entry then I'd seriously consider an upgrade to a paid for entry. So far FreeIndex is the best but that only means I've had two/three enquiries over a couple of years. Qype is the entry I've never updated and will probably remove when I have time over the holidays because of their marketing phone calls. I don't mind companies giving it a try via a phone call but Qype seems to specialise in very laid back people who have all the time in the world to chat and seem to think I have too! The 'magic words' - is this a convenient time to talk - seem to be unknown to this organisation. I try to be polite but brief and firm with cold callers but freely admit to slamming the phone down on a Qype caller.

Hi again. Qype have not responded to my notice of intent so it looks like I will be going to court mid January. My solicitors reckon their t&c's are unfair and the click through method of accepting them is invalid. I would love to hear from anyone who has had problems with this company in the past, especially regarding their worthless guarantee.

a few points:

1. i did register for a free listing and got a few calls, small price to pay for the listing i guess

2. from now on if somebody calls promising results I will ask them for a free trial, if it works great otherwise bugger off. Even Google Adwords offers a voucher to get you started!!

3. Calls were a bit insistent and the main thing was that there is no specific category for my business + my quote was for £600 plus. Lol I started my business with 2k...

4 I think it depends on the business you are in. Qype is very interactive and I can see it working for Food&beverage businesses. I have a friends that owns a pizza place with an innovative concept and he is very happy with qype, above all about the business he gets via smartphones internet searches.

5 I hate when people just say I have never heard of it!! Nobody ever heard of your company either when you first started and unless you can spend millions in national advertising it takes time. Plus if they truly have 1.7 millions unique users there must be some potential

6 I posted a thread in the accounting section "payroll software for employees with different hourly rates" asking some questions about 12pay.co.uk, I didn't know they were on this forum and the way their rep handled my comments and one bad feedback was great, I think Richard from Qype should learn from that.

7 @Richard: replying to a feedback copy pasting the T&C it's ridicolous. This won't gain you any new customers and will create a bad brand image and disengagement. Why not just own up and say Gosh only 7 leads in 3 months, let's refund this guy or let's put him on our home page for 30 days or whatever else. It's obvious Qype isn't working for everyone and you should maybe concentrate on what works best.

Point is, when I was being hooked, I got told it was 500 hits per month, I got told I would have an advertising banner, I got told I would appear on all my local competitors Qype pages, I got told I would come up in other major various city listings. None of this has happened. On top of that, Qype twice took out unauthorised payments from my account.

When making all of the above points to my 'account manager' who is most often conspicuous by her absence, the only point addressed was the possibility of a refund for the 'overpyaments', aka money that I did not owe, taken from my account without my authorisation and without a recurring payment agreement on my card with Qype. Btw the refund will take up to 8 weeks. Why??

Disgraceful business practices.
Stay well clear.

I strongly discourage you to use this company!

This company is by far one of the worst companies I have ever come across, I have never had a company rip me off like this.

I was initially contacted by a salesman called Mark Radford who basically promised me if I did not make 1500 views/impressions with 6 months I would be offered a full refund.

Well the target was not met and I then contacted Mark ask for a full refund. Mark denies he said such a thing. I made numerous calls and emails to this company to complain about misleading me and basically lying to me to make a sale.

They eventually agreed to cancel my contract despite them saying I was in a 12 month contract. They never admitted they were at fault, but canceling my contract instead speaks volumes. If you need to complain contact Ben Digby (although funny enough he seems to have many holidays when you need to speak to him).

Anyway sometime later I had qype contact me regarding outstanding payments? Can you believe this. Apparently they have no record of cancellation. I have sent them an email to state that if they wish to discuss anything with me then it is done through my solicitor. I can no longer speak to qype as I get a fed lie after lie, and I trust nothing they say. I have written documentation of a cancelled contract from ben digby. See you in court qype.

I will keep you posted with court dates and outcomes.

i had the same situation with them. i did advertise in Qype, the other day Geri (that's his fake name) phoned me, and convinced me to join them for £75 for
the first month, and if i'm happy, it will continue for the next 6 months. he told me that if i don't receive any advantage from it, i can stop the contract anytime.
for few days later, i received an eMail which quoting me for 12 months contract. i reply to them to say it's a mistake, and we signed only for 6 months, but no reply till today. after 30 days that i didn't see any business from them, i emailed them for canceling the contract, but no reply. tried to contact Geri, but he pushing me away, that he is always busy, and i should contact the business department. :| anyway, i phoned the Bank to reject any request from Qype to draw money from my bank account. and since than, Geri tried to phone me only after i stopped them from my bank account. but now it's my turn to ignore their calls. Geri !!! no money?? that's how it works. no service, no money. like Pizza.
what you don't get, you don't pay.

They will do any thing including lying not to give you your money back. These people are just thieves and should be stopped. Im going down the legal path and getting trading standards involved and i hope everyone does the same. They need locking up with the rest of the criminals.

I had the same hard sell last November and succumbed to their patter. I have had not one job from Qype, not one enquiry, nothing, nada, zip. In December I rang them to cancel my subscription and instructed my bank to cancel my direct debit. Today, nearly a year latter they have taken 6 x £40 instalments IN ONE DAY from my bank.

Tomorrow I am going to the police as I believe this is theft. I will also contact Trading Standards and any Watchdog type TV show who will listen.

If you value your hard earned dosh, don't waste it on these people. Sign up to Google Adwords instead.

I see that I am not alone here with this company QYPE I was totally lied to by the salesman back 4 months ago, I have sent this company 3 emails over the last 2 weeks requesting them to cancel my account with immediate effect, so far they have not even replied back to me except one email from a david terry saying I had sent the email to the wrong company and he would forward it to the right company,,,weird....so I have sent two emails to the address that he told me which was client services so far no replys, this company is very un-professional to say the least the also took out 3 payments from my account in one go which was 3 x 57.00 this placed me in overdraft with my bank and they never contacted me about it, I have since been on to my bank and told them to stop all payments to this company I think I should ask for a complete refund and the costs associated with my bank too
