Questions about window 7

Hey everyone, I just installed window 7 and have never use it before. I got the home basic version.

I might need to ask more questions but for now:

when I was using window xp, if I just click on "start" then "All programs" then a new set of menu will appear to the right, then same thing will happen when you put the pointer on programs with more options.

I can't seem to do that on window 7 for some reason. If you click on "All programs" then a set of menu will appear in the same place and if you click on any programs with more options, the new set of menu will just replace the old set of menu.

Kown what I'm talking about? what can I do to change that so its the same as window xp?

DO you mean for example instead of having MS word as a clickable item, it now has an arrow?

Im not entirely sure what you mean here?

The new submenus normally just show recent files of that program?

Or do you mean that everything happens in the same area?
( you dont get a popup menu anymore ? ) it just slides in the same area?

Careful though.. Your changing registry settings....

Read the comments on the page.. people have found a program that does it for you

Yes! I just downloaded the "classic Shell" program and now it looks like the window XP version again (or the classic view). Its so much better. wish I can show you a screenshot but don't know how to on here



Seriously, I don't understand, why did they decide to change it after all these years? I tried for ages trying to reverse back to the classic view but I couldn't.

but the desiginers want a new look or some new ideas are displayed in the operating system ! much difference between the win 7 and the versions before ,that is called the progress !~ and the new versions in the future will be more dofferent in using , you will have to fit in with it unless you don't want to use ms ,aha !

I am not using Windows 7 yet but i have some information that you can change the view of menus or you can check your win 7 menu settings from control panel. Go through the Control Panel and check these settings. May be your problem solution is there.
