QR Code Scanner

We have an online shop and have generated a QR code for each of our products that is printed out on the product labels. Scanning that QR code with a scanner on a smart phone takes the user to that product in the online shop.

It works really well BUT as not everyone has a QR code scanner on their smartphones how can I provide them with one?

You can’t. If they don’t have a scanned installed on their phone all you can do is suggest they do.

But most wont bother. Too much faffing about when I can just visit your site and search.

Doesn’t work like that. You have to use an app/play store to find a scanner.

In any case, it’s unlikely many will ever even notice the QR code. It’s a medium that is rapidly disappearing. There has even been malicious use where the the QR code takes you to a fake site.

Don't think I've used a QR scanner in a few years.
Never used on a label.

If I order something and I want it again later I log in and search for it. Perhaps have a 'previous orders' or 'purchase history' section for the customer to reorder.
Much simpler than faffing about adding an app to the phone.

Or set up notifications so I get a text with a link to buy again.

If you know my purchase history you know how often I buy x so you can send a reminder.

QR Codes seem to be making a bit of a comeback albeit not in the E-commerce sector.

The likes of Checaktrade have replaced their manual fill out bi-fold feedback cards they ask their 33,000+ traders to give to their clients with a simple business card size that includes a QR Code that the customer scans to take them to the tradespersons profile on the website to leave a review. It has resulted in a 30% growth in reviews left on the platform in the last year

However, in your case QR Codes are wasted. As mentioned you already have their buying data which is perfect for SMS/Email Marketing

However...

So few people use QR codes or care to follow their links the whole exercise is pretty pointless.
