I really hope someone can help me I'm at my wits end! I have a small company and often take on freelancers to do work on my behalf. I ensure they all have public liability insurance before we agree to them doing the work so I thought I was pretty much covered if anything went wrong.

Now, I have an issue with a freelancer who damaged a clients property and is refusing to pay for it or get the issue resolved via the insurance.

The client is obviously chasing me as I'm the one they booked with but the freelancer is refusing to take calls, respond to emails etc.

Does anyone have any advice please?

You report it to your insurance and they take it up with your subbie/their insurance!

Hello

Unfortunately, it is your responsibility to put right the damages. You can't blame your freelancer to the client. If you have hired the freelancer it is your responsibility to ensure you have everything covered to remain professional in your client's property.

Then.... you take it up with the freelancer. If you have a contract you can go down the legal route, if you don't then you are fighting a loosing battle and there is nothing you can do.
