Problems with Hostinguk.net

I have been informed that my website was down for over 16 hours yesterday and when I tried to open a support ticket five minutes ago it seems that the server was also down. I can't really telephone them as I'm currently sunning myself in Sardinia.

Anyone else having problems with them?

Hi Ian,

Their website is loading fine for us - so you can try live chat if it's loading for you too.

Their ticketing/support system does look to be down, and only sales is available currently through live chat - but that looks like your best bet.

Just to add, this looks to be because someone cut their cables!

HostingUK will be having words with the fibre provider. There is supposed to be redundancy in the network. Having said that, who else apart from a ISP would be digging a 2m deep microtrench? One wonders who it was at 9pm last night.

I check my rankings daily and this morning the site has dropped 104 places from 31 to 135

Hopefully it will pick up quickly

This can happen if google crawls your website when it was down.. things will get back once all is good.

Anything less than 24 hours may have a short-term impact, but no long term damage.

Greater than 24 hours or down for a while then back but on a new IP address, we've seen that negatively impact things for a while with a knock down 2 or 3 pages and then a slow build back up
