Agree it was lame. The point I failed to make was that to become accepted into a group you need to first make yourself known. UKBF is great but there are are many more fora and blog and where SEO is discussed. Join in the discussions and the invites do follow.

Its not a bad idea actually. I guess as long as the members remained relatively low and people contributed. Not sure about +1ing each other. Thats the sort of thing Google is going to be able to detect surely in the long run.

SEO Book has a private forum I believe, but that costs 100's a month to join. I'm not quite ready for that sort of investment.

I personally believe there is a lot to be gained by keeping an eye on all the popular SEO forums (including extreme blackhat sites). You need to know what people are up to in order to remain competitive and adjust your own strategies accordingly (I'm not advocating extreme blackhat to anyone btw).

Interesting because the whole objective of +1 is to show results your friends like, which basically encourages you to +1. Of course groups of friends are going to be naturally +1ing the same stuff.
