What does it cost to set up a premium rate line? Does anyone with experience of this business know how much of the say £1.50 a minute I could expect to keep? How often can you withdraw the profit (just wondering as, obviously, it impacts on the cashflow of the business I'd be appending the premium rate line to).

P.S As I understand it, for an 09 number you can only bill the customer £2.50 for the initial minute and then £1.50 thereafter. Is this correct?

    Thanks for the replies.

Yes, well I know Phonepayplus are the regulator, but my intention is not to use it for a customer complaint line or anything. Furthermore, I'll be completely up-front about the charges levied, so I don't see a problem there unless I've misunderstood what they do.

How long should it take to get it set up? If I start today or tomorrow, would I be able to have one live within a week?

I had heard from someone that you can bypass PhonePayPlus regulation by using foreign premium rate lines? Is this correct? Mine would probably attract most of its custom online anyway, so a theoretically multi-national audience anyway.

You need to ask Phonepay those questions - you need to register with them to get the number and explain what it's to be used for.

You probably can bi-pass the entire system by registering a foreign number - your punters may not feel like dialling it though and likely as not it will be bent.
