Could you test a plugin for me:

https://take-the-lead.co.uk/

It's not sophisticated, it's just a simple lead generating form.

All I need you to do is check it functions as expected.

If you really want to help and have a wordpress site, can you download and install on your own site and make sure the settings are understandable and logical.

Worked fine for me, windows 10 and chrome and edge.

An observation for you: Sole proprietorship and limited liability company (LLC) are very formal sounding, could be sole trader and limited company (LTD). I had to think twice about what my company is, I consider it a LTD, not an LLC.

I agree. I just used a list I found somewhere for the demo. You can change it to whatever you want in the settings.

The problem with any sort of list is it's never going to work for everybody. If I built a UK list the Yanks will complain and the Russians won't even know what they mean.

Sounds like somewhere is in the USA.
It probably was...

Looking at my other financial calculator plugins, the highest number of users is the USA followed by a whole bunch of Scandinavian countries then Australia.

Going back to @estwig 's comment, LLP is one of the types in the UK. I get:
  • Sole trader
  • Partnership
  • Limited liability partnership
  • Limited liability company
In Scandinavia:
  • Sole trader
  • Trading partnership or limited partnership
  • Limited company
  • Economic association/cooperative
In Australia:
  • Sole trader
  • Partnership
  • Company
  • Trust
Such is joy of building plugins!

What I might do for the demo is add some geolocation and adjust the list to suite the country.

does it work on sites running on php 7.4?

I added it to a site using 7.4, but it wasn't sending an email.

Switched to 7.2 and it worked, reverted back to 7.4 and it stopped working again
(on a clean install using twentynineteen and no other plugins)

The input masks will confuse a lot of people, especially phone number (also, your default is wrong, missing a digit in where area code would be)

in the css the .takethelead_homepage h5 is missing a font size: (would also like the option of left aligning h1 and h5)

Why use the H1 tag there?

layout is messed up on some div sizes (default twentynineteen)

h2 section_success_title is white for some reason, and I can't change it.

Are you pulling the fonts from fontawesome? I would rather have everything in the plugin

Is there an option to create separate forms?

will look a bit closer tomorrow

Still investigating the PHP 7.4 issue. It's most odd as I'm not seeing any errors reported.

The input masks probably need explaining. The telephone number thing is just a placeholder. In other countries the format is different again. See discussion on the business types above!

Will sort out the h1/h5 thing. There aren't a lot of styling options yet, these tend to get added as people request them. But I will add an alignment option

I only use forntawesome in the settings. Not sure it's used anywhere in the outputs. I will check this.

There will be an option to create separate forms - but not yet. Need to do a lot of coding to make this happen so I want to see if the plugin gets any traction first. It will be the same with CRM integration. I've got an infustionsoft version and I'm looking at doing hubspot but to integrate fully takes 10-15 hours of work.

I've noticed that with my host, when I update to 7.4 it also edits the php extensions (even switched off pdo which stopped my site working), it may have switched off an extension that is needed by forms, another form (wpforms lite) stopped working too.

I'm not updating anything else to 7.4 apart from test sites.

I've been looking at a number of bug reports and it's not just a WP issue. PHP7.4 breaks the mail() function. They are suggesting we all use PHPmailer instead. Which (as many have suggested) is bonkers.

That being said, the plugin uses wp_mail() which is a wrapper for phpmailer. So I'm a bit stumped on how to fix this.

I wonder if there is a similar problem with contact form 7?

According to the PHP bug reports they are looking at an update to fix the problem. Which is why many hosts don't yet offer php7.4 as an upgrade option - it's only been released since the end of November so will contain all sorts of bugs and annoyances for a while yet.
