I relaunched my FD Capital website in the summer, it is starting to get leads which is very encouraging and now I have time and a small amount of cash to invest in improvements.

Only had a quick look because it's 10.45pm on a Friday - which shows you what a sad person I am.

You have the potential for a decent site but you need someone to re-organise, re-write, correct and streamline it for you. I'd brace yourself for a bit of criticism - hopefully constructive.

Just as an example, you do yourself a disservice by claiming to be 'Search Marketing Experts' then produce a page full of errors (SERPS stands for 'Search Engine Results Pages' - not Search Engine Results Placements'. It's Bounce Rate not Bound Rate'). Bounce rates and time-on-page are not critical factors in rankings. It's not essential to get a higher DA (domain authority) than your competitors. And so on. And so on.

You say 'There are many factors that need consideration: – Site Speed is important, as its its (sic) mobile friendliness'. Your own Home page scores 9/100 on a Google performance test and 'mobile friendly' doesn't usually mean you have to scroll for 30 minutes to reach the bottom of the page.

Aside from that, there are assertions about search marketing that are outdated or simply wrong. The point here is that one poor page can prejudice a visitors view of all the other pages.

I'm sure there will be others along to offer their observations and comments. Don't take it too much to heart if some are negative. Website reviews are helpful but not always pleasant for the receiver.

2:30 am - that makes me a whole lot sadder! well, actually, I am waiting to telephone LA, but that, as they say, is another story! (And one sad MF'er!)

Low-rent 'executive' recruitment is ten-a-penny. What you have tapped into is a need for decent CFOs/FDs at a mid-market level. At the top of the market, everybody knows more or less everybody else - but below that, there are literally thousands of MEs that are looking for the adult supervision that a decent CFO brings.

Right at the top of that list are the bilingual/binational CFOs. And never has the need for EU-based financially-literate staff been greater! I should know - I have a German and a (very small) UK company that (when it comes to all things financial) depends on one mighty clever CFO. And we are launching new companies in both territories.

The United States of Retardistan is dying. I would be seriously looking at those talents that are targeting future markets that will survive the coming financial maelstrom. The key is in recruitment - and that means going out there and talking to people in France, Germany, etc., and getting them when they are young!

That's my 30 cents worth and it's two minutes to go to my call - website, get a pro! Seriously!

First thoughts are sloooooooooow. I would of left the site before it had even loaded if I was your target market

Way to much drivel on the homepage and I felt like I was scrolling for an eternity just reading the same thing over and over again. You say 'If you are looking for a Finance Director or CFO for your business, either on a Part-Time or Full-Time basis, then reach out to our team of specialists' 5 times just on the homepage with no actually call to action buttons.

I am sure you as a business know exactly what you are doing but I would strong suggest hiring the services of a good content writer to clean up and restructure the site.

What does this even mean? The only reason anyone will ever be on your site is because they want an FD.

Why the huuuuge hero image? The rest of the page is just waffle. I want a turnaround FD. I just need to be sure you can find someone. Half the page is just marketing junk about your company.

You don't seem to know what you want. One menu link is different types of FD but you also have services which list more types of FD.

The blog is pointless - I'd bin this as it adds no value.

The footer is just horrible spammy list of locations.

I clocked to chat buy you aren't available. That would put me right off using your service. There are plenty of 24/7 call answering services who could run this for you.

As others have said, it has potential but it's clearly a DIY site. If I needed an FD I'd use a service like yours. If you need a website, use someone competent.

We'd need to know more about the business and it's marketing plan to be able to give any meaningful advice. It looks like the copy is written in completely the wrong 'direction', but it may not be.

Don’t try and do it yourself. The review comments above are just the tip of the iceberg, there are many more things need sorting.

As already suggested, don’t do anything until you have analysed your marketing strategy. This will drive the structure of the site and from there the content and internal navigation,

Fixing the typos comes way down the list of priorities.

Ref the speed issue using Google Lightspeed site I get a score of 100% on destop and 84% on mobile

Not sure why it appears slow to users if that is the case. The site is using a cache and you need to re-run the test for it to show the cached speed.

It appears slow because of the awful code. Don't know how you build the site but the code is horrible.

If you need to use a cache to speed up the site you are doing it wrong.

Thanks it is a standard wordpress blog, the design is custom however. So I don't think I can change the code in anyway.

Of course you can. That’s the whole point of Wordpress. A simple site like yours shouldn’t need cache or any of the other things compellingmedia have done.

If you fixed the many issues with the site you would be getting more leads, rank higher and gain trust.

Note: there is nothing custom about the site. It’s a standard layout. Whoever you paid to build the site charged you way too much.

To give another example of structural issues:

In the main menu you have 'About'. But this shows a dropdown listing FD locations. Nothing in there to tell me about you and your business. This sort of thing will lower you trust score will Google as it's misleading. Furthermore, having a bunch of pages for different locations has been frowned upon for years. There are ways to highlight locations but this is not the way.

The issue as you rightfully indentify as that I used a budget coder to create the site from a quality design and now I am suffering as a result. As the business is developing I plan to get someone more skillful in to improve it. The speed and other issues are all due to that I suspect.

Not sure about the quality design. It’s a pretty standard WP layout used in hundreds of themes.

However, the main problem isn’t the code, it’s the whole site structure. You have lots of unfocused and irrelevant content. If you want be the #1 place to go for FD recruitment that needs to be the whole focus of the site.

Have a page explaining the different types but this then needs to have a purpose. For example you offering a service to help then with selecting the right role.

If you need someone skilled there are plenty on UKBF that can help. Building the actual site is the easy bit.

There's an awful lot of repetitive tedious content, mostly stating the obvious. A lot of the language doesn't feel very 'professional' to me. More what I'd expect on a double glazing or roofing website.
Way too much detail about the precise locations of your team.

My number one rule when I land on a website is to know what the company does. Then I want to know what’s in it for me.

This fails on both counts. Most people would just bounce away.

There are so many websites now, you really need to nail it the second visitors land on it.

I would find a copywriter (ProCopywriters is a good start) and invest in some decent copy.

What do you do? Do I trust you? The answer is I sort of understand what you do. You provide interim FDs. Then, you don't tell me about your customers. No testimonials. Because who do you trust more, the company selling to you or their customer who've bought?

Finally, tons of repetitive content which just turns me straight off as I wade through it.

So what you do is sort of evident I think. Then, I don't trust you so click away based on the website.

I like the graphics and the content in general. only bit I'm not too sure about is the dark background used for the drop down menus. With the grey font it is a bit difficult to read - by older people. Many of the decision makers will be senior people who may not have 20-20 vision.
