"Memorable Phone Numbers..."

Memorable numbers are so called simply because they are easy to remember. They come in ranges called platinum, gold, silver and normal. Normal numbers are available free of charge on our other pages (see left menu). Platinum numbers are the best / easiest to remember, then gold numbers and silver numbers. Memorable numbers aid sales a great deal and give the potential customer the ability to see or hear your number once and then remember it so that they can call you at a more convenient time .

Memorable Numbers are special numbers..."
Memorable numbers whether they are platinum numbers, gold numbers or silver numbers, are special numbers that do not become available very often. They are special in the sense that they are very sought after. This allows you to give out a number on an advert or radio / television presentation that is very easy for the potential customer to remember without writing down giving you a great advantage over your competitors. Potential customers will not need to hunt for your number a second time - they see it once and can recall it at a later date.

Has anyone seen these, and would you want one of these numbers?

Adam

We have a freephone number based on letters. Given how many companies already have freephone numbers, it was amazing that we found one.

In the US, four number ranges are available as freephone numbers: 1-800, 1-888, 1-877, and 1-866. While we couldn't get one of these followed by GOLDCTR, we were able to get a close approximation: 1-877-7-GOLDCTR (the R is redundant). This works well because our website address is www.goldctr.com.

I find that a freephone number is quite helpful. The use of letters makes our number easy to remember. I'm sure some people miss the additional 7, but so be it.

I'm not sure how valuable memorable numbers are in reality. The US model works well there but it doesn't work at all here.

If you have reason to call a number fairly regularly I imagine it would help. In my case the only number I can think of is my telephone bank 08456 100100. No others stick as I don't need to use them that often.

I suspect a really good number like the 0800 000000 example would be very useful but the majority are very forgetable and seem to me to be just vanity numbers.

We don't do them at the moment but get asked for them regularly so one day we will, they look like money for nothing to me ;-)

It really only works for marketing, and even then i would say only tv marketing would benefit from it, like the constant 118 118 adverts we see. It's really only those types of promotion i would ever consider using one for. Just to have one on your business card makes no sense, i don't remeber any of my clients contact details, good number or not, thank god for outlook address book! But i agree completely its really just to show off.

Hi Adam, yes mate i have seen these and think they are a good idea, certainly for business purposes and also how many people can not remember their own number ? A lot of people say why should i change my number, i have had it for years, Answer to that is - Even after several years they still cant remember it without looking it up on their own phone.
I managed to find a site selling these for reasonable money, although there are some sites which are very expensive i managed to get mine from searching google on Gold Numbers and came up with goldsims very reliable and very reasonable. I like it because when people say to me "Contact Number" it just reels of the tongue, and then their comments are usually something like "that's a nice number", makes me feel a bit special.

I contacted o2 vodafone and orange to buy a easy number but they were all asking lotsa money for these numbers. I have seen a lot of sites that sell gold numbers even mobile numbers. Has the world gone mad or are these numbers a real investment?

We sell numbers for prices varying between £50 and £1000.

Personally I think the £1000 numbers may well be worth it as they are very distictive and possibly memorable but most are just for vanity.

You do need to be sure you can take them with you when you leave the Telco you bought them from tho....

Well i will answer your question in a minute, however the real reason for starting up an old thread was to see if anyone other than the site administrators actually read them, now to your question "a real investment", in my opinion they probably are and this is based on the Car Registration Number sector, In the 60's and very early 70's you could get nice number plates for very little money, I worked at that time for a company called TOP 20 based in Hayling Island and they purchased the Number TOP 20 for £50 in the early 60's. When the company was sold in mid 80's that number was sold for £ thousands. I am not saying that the same will happen with mobile phone numbers but there is certainly a possibility. which numbers are better ?

I actually agree with CJD they are money for old rope. Although we do do them should anyone want to throw away good money. A number is number and should be cost effective in my book

To a certain extent i would agree, however i think that Contact Numbers are as important as company Logo's. If it attracts a customer then it's good in my book:)

    It's allocated to:

    07911 Allocated: Wave Telecom Limited

What area code are you in? We have stacks of non-memorable numbers ending 911 eg 01315 640911

Probably got some 0xxxxx 911911 too, but it would take a bit of searching.

They are good but I wonder if we'll go the way of the Americans and start choosing phone numbers that spell our business names in the near future?

It's interesting that a few years ago "Light Lunch" with Mel and Sue used to have a number like this where the last digits spelt out "LUNCH". I've seen a few others do this, but I guess it's hard to come up with names that would be easily memorable and where the number hasn't already been taken.

I'm pretty sure an optician that used an Owl as their branding had the number: 0800 28 28 20 (two eight two eight two oh - twit twit twooo!)

That is a great catchy number for that type of business, do you know any more examples ? This is what i have been saying that a memorable Number or number that stands out for whatever reason is good for that business, even if you don't need them now you have remembered the contact number should you need them in the future.

Sorry to butt in on your forum . We have been in business selling mobile phone numbers for 5 years and yes it is a growing market but be very careful as to where you buy the number from there are a few trusted sites that sell numbers. Avoid ebay gumtree as this is also a growing scam if it too good to be true trust me it normally is. If you use a mobile as your contact number for your customers then yes it's the best investment you'll probally make getting a eazy number.

i have just stumbled upon your thread, and would like to add that i have been in this market selling memorable mobile numbers for a few years, and its excellent to own a number that is easy to remember, if you have one in mind you want or maybe one that you want to match with your landline or birthday, anniversary, these kind of options are available.

you need to have a budget in mind of what you want to spend, yes you can get free mobile numbers, but they wouldnt be up to the same standard as one you could buy from a website.

feel free to ask any questions here to help.
