Pick Pack & Dispatch

Hi
I am starting an online furnishings and home wares store and want to outsource the storage and delivery and possibly customer service.

Can anyone recommend a company that would be able to do this. I spoke to a few but they seem to only manage small parcels or require you to be sending 50 parcels a day.

Any advice is welcome

Hello,

I would recommend you to keep your inventory by yourself and dispatch at ease because warehouses are focal points for product and information flow between sources of supply and beneficiaries. However, in humanitarian supply chains, warehouses vary greatly in terms of their role and their characteristics. The core of information flow about your whole business not need to get involved with any other party belongings.

So forth you need to build up a field warehouse on temporary basis. They may be housed in a building which was not designed to be used as a warehouse or in a temporary building/structure, in mobile units such as rub halls, Wiikhalls and sometimes are little more than a tent in a field.

Basics to perform warehouse and inventory management:

  1. Planning inbound receipt procedures.
  2. Storage formalities e.g:
    • location management
    • inventory control
    • occupational health and safety
  3. Outbound delivery procedures.
These are my inputs rather to get outsourced the whole warehousing and inventory control to 3PL.

The OP is talking about a warehouse for retail, not one for disaster relief, which is what the document that you took the above from is talking about:
    http://log.logcluster.org/mobile/response/warehouse-management/index.html

You can't just go and set up a tent in a field to store your stock in this country. It wouldn't be there the next morning, for a start.

You could, at the very least, post a link to the articles that you're taking this stuff from. Credit where it's due.

I'm not getting personal. I'm pointing out why your recommendations are impractical in this country not least because the risk of theft, and also because you would need permission before erecting any kind of temporary structure.

Why post about disaster relief storage when that's not what the OP is asking about?

Although it seems biased, I would recommend APC/Simpson Bros. The warehouse we have can stock practically any amount of space you need, we pick it up, and when necessary we deliver it for you, and our customer service staff are brilliant at what they do.

Message me if you would like to discuss further.
