Hi there!


Need a spot of help! I just can not grasp photoshop and how to delete background and keep just the image i want!! I was wondering if there maybe someone willing to take 5 mins to poss edit it for me please?

Is your background all one solid colour? Select the tool that looks like a magic wand, click on the background and hit delete / backspace or whatever you press on your machine. The background should disappear, then save!

Hi mate, there are a few good websites with photoshop guides. I have found tutorialized.com to be very useful.

If your background is a full solid base color then there will be problem. But if it has lots of different colors and shape, then you need to trace the figure that you wanted to have.

It's all about patience. It's easier if the image is high resolution so you can zoom right in, then use the polygonal lasso tool and using small straight lines, trace around your image. Once cut out, use the blur tool (only slightly) to blend the cut lines a little so they are not as sharp.

Granted, it's not something you can get good at overnight, but practice makes perfect.

I play around with Photoshop ad if your image is in the correct format (PSD I think) it will probably be created using layers. so

Open your image and open tools (Layers) if not already open... This will be a box to the right.

In this bow will be icons that look like eyes (each one is a different layer) click on these and you can hide each layer until you have the image you want. then save that.

There will be better qualified here than me but hope it helps

I would recommend having a google for tutorials that relate to working with alpha channels, you'll find it much easier to pull images apart if you understand alpha channels and layers.

If you have no grasp of Photoshop then frankly, you'll likely get messy results. You'd fare better to either learn about Photoshop properly over time or get someone to do it for you.

If you're not up to the task yourself, advertise the 5 minute job on an out-sourcing freelance website such as Odesk. You might have to pay a fiver but you'll get it done fast by someone who knows what they're doing.

You need to open a new PSD document that has a transparent background. You can chose this after hitting CTRL+N. You'll notice the background consists of grey and white squares, this indicates transparency.

Then make sure you save it as .png That is a file format that allows transparency. JPG won't let you save transparent
backgrounds.

Then simply use the magnetic lasso or something similar to copy the content over.

Some excellent advise on this thread already and sorry to jump on your thread as i would like to ask a question about photoshop myself, i sell clothing and would like to know how the professional websites like here for example http://www.urbancelebrity.com/new-products

How do they get there t-shirts to look and stand out this perfect as in the shape of the t-shirt puffed out etc i am guessing they use a mannequin and then use photshop to get rid of it any advice on this would be great thanks

They will use a mannequin and more than likely took the pictures with a solid darker bgd colour, then used "hover" in css to show the back when hovering over them.

Most suppliers will also provide decent images of their products for you to use on your website

Possibly also by using a t-shirt template. These are created and then the design can be placed over the garment and it looks lifelike. I do mock ups for clients all the time for things like t-shirts and cans of pop, beer bottles etc etc. There are many ways to skin a cat.

Pity I cant attach a file for you to see one

But for ease and doing it yourself, yes, just use a doll or a person against a white or green background and edit them out
