Performance Max Campaigns??

Has anyone had any success with Performance Max?

I find it impossible to get quality traffic and conversions at good value, the lack of control and automatic bidding just doesn't work for me at all.

Performance max won’t help conversions. If you are getting traffic but not converting maybe the site is the problem. If you aren’t getting quality traffic then maybe you need to rethink your marketing strategy.

I’ve just looked at the site and can see all sorts of areas that could be improved.

Have you had a website review?

Have you thought about getting a marketing expert to help out?

Thanks for your reply, what I'm trying to find out is whether anyone has seen a benefit with performance max over other Google strategies? According to Google PM should reach even more customers, boost store traffic and be conversion optimised. Not what I'm seeing.

I appreciate the website is ready for a makeover and this is being planned for the future. I'm comparing campaigns so the conversion rate should be similar or better. Generally speaking the website does perform very well.

We don't need help marketing right now, we are very efficient in this department.

Performance Max is a bit of a con. I’ve not seen anyone get any real benefit. What I have seen is massive improvements after reworking Google ads landing pages and going long tail on your keywords.

We've had success with PMAX for ecommerce stores but the landing pages were highly optimised as @fisicx alludes to above.

Also, it was about £10-20k in spend before performance volatility began to settle down. PMax did outperform shopping and we weren't running search. This was in the cosmetics niche so not exactly comparing apples with apples here.

How long have you run the Pmax campaign and how much have you spent?

Question where are you sending the traffic to ?
A dedicated landing page or the home page
Did you start off with a PMAX campaign or did you have some conversion before this

Remember you may receive a broad range of opinions as we all market in different areas with different budgets
    The key,
Have enough conversions first to train the pixel
Strong, Headline with lots of value
    Click Through Relevancy

PMAX takes a lot of traffic before campaigns become optimised. We have seen some campaigns where the conversions have tanked in the first week but then risen steadily above in subsequent weeks. It is very hard to trust Google's learning algorithms, but with PMAX patience does very much seem to be the key.

Its hard to expand further without knowing which Google platform you were on, but from your website I'd suspect Google Shopping. If so, by analysing your product performance data you should be able to claw back some control by limiting which products you want to include in your shopping feed.

Keep in mind pMAX is only as good as the assets you provide google with.
