Hi all....

i saw the measure down in my site's traffic. was it due to Penguin 2.1 ?

I lost all keyword's ranking in Google for my site. My site's traffic is now just 1/4 of its previous traffic since last 2 days. Penguin 2.1 was launched on 4th Oct and i saw this downfall from last 2 days ie, 15,16 Oct. Why so ?

And how can i recover from it ? Please help me.

Regards...

Not penguin it sounds more like a enalty or a technical issue. Take a look inside Webmasterstools and see if there are any messages there.

Thanks OldWelshGuy for reply.

I saw but there is no any message in webmaster tool. and i have also read again Google guidelines and didn't find any thing negative that i used on my site.

One of my friend told me that I used an ad on the whole site (all pages of site) which was built in iframe... so that's why the problem occurred. I have removed it.

Please guide me.

New sites often get a bit of a boost while google is sorting out the index. Once it has al lthe information it needs it determines your real ranking.

Which is where you are now.

Thanks for reply Andrew. The answers are below;

1) My domain is 1 year old And i have links from some forums (from different niche) & directories.
2) Total 10,023 pages are indexed.
3) No, NOt any message in WMT.
4) I have only 5 Not found errors..... and it was 4-10 since last 20 days.

Now tell me, how & from where i can fix the problems.

Can you explain how you got that many pages indexed in such a short time? what sort of site is it? is the content original or has it been scraped? if it is an Ecommerce site have you used manufacturer titles and descriptions etc, and ket image names the same etc?

This is latest product info site. My main motive is people do compare between the latest products/trends. I upload daily 7-8 pages on my site. Content is original & user-informative, not copied from anywhere. Site url is <removed by mod, as site reviews not allowed outside the review area>

This is correct. Check in your Google web-master area to see if you have a note telling you you have "unnatural links".

In this regard Google are normally quite specific. Link share schemes, paid links, or links to "game" Page rank.
In general - though not all the time. Spam links (too many blog comments, forum profiles etc) lead to a demotion whereas bought links, scheme links often lead to an unnatural linking notice.

If your site is outside the top 1000 for all terms and only shows for a url: search then you may well have had the notice sadly.

Scritty

We are not allowed to review websites outside of the website review area which is why it is nigh on impossible to help in this instance. I suggest you read my post at the top of this page rather than just skip it as being too generic, as that is where your problems sit.

Thank you OldWelshGuy..... i got your point. :)

This wont help but I have the exact same thing on one of my websites.

Website was stable for 2 months with flux maybe 5 positions either side (nothing major).

On the 17th/18th of this month (few days ago) my rankings just dropped off completely, and when I say completely I mean from being on page 2 for large eCommerce terms to the result completely gone from the index for those terms.

The url is still indexed (site:url) but regarding the page coming up for those terms, nothing.

No messages in WMT's either, I am an SEO and this has totally confused me as to why - I don't have a clue what has happened (Im working on it though).

Trust me when I say I have not done anything negative, thus me being so confused.

The url has got over 1000 words of unique content, its not been scrapped as I have checked on copyscape and some quick queries in Google.

Fetched in WMT's and all is fine.

Links built minimal, some guest posts on industry blogs and some social signals that's it.

I personally think its to do with Hummingbird or maybe even a problem from Google's end - well fingers crossed anyway.

@anjali_talking What kind of links did you build and be honest because we might be able to diagnose the problem together - Have you had any server downtime for example - basically can you think of anything which happened to your website over the last 2 weeks?

I have built links from Forums, Directories, SBM sites..........and some social networking sites like Stumble Upon, Yahoo Answers, LinkedIn........And i don't have any server downtime issue. My site was running fine.

Please guide me more.

Hold on a minute before you start removing links and disavowing in WMT's.

Its only been 3 days since you sore the drop, sit back for a week before you touch anything and see if it comes back.

If it doesn't come back, then start looking at what links could have caused this.

Don't start making decisions while you are in the wrong state of mind. SEO is a little bit of a science - dont just start ripping links out left, right and center to see if it helps, it wont.

Hi OldWelshGuy, open sesame, mugatea & others......

Someone told me all this because of Yahoo Answers. i have done almost 365 Yahoo Answers. Most of them are chosen as best answers (72%). I am on the 2nd position in Motorcycle section and on 5th in the Buying & Selling section means i have a very good reputation as well.

I answered questions and put my website's relevant URL in the source section. I used many times same urls for approx same kind of questions. So my question is, this could be a trouble for me ?

I lost my ranking & organic traffic on those keywords that i put website url for my site.

What say ? Does it happen due to Yahoo Answers ?

Gguide me.

Most SEOs won't be out of bed yet... :D

Short answer is yes, but not specific to Yahoo. Any overuse of anchor text anywhere is likely have this effect, depending on how G views your site.

But i never used anchor text in Yahoo answers... i just wrote, "for more comparison, visit the below url....."

Means i directly put the hyperlink.

Hey, open sesame,

I saw again my ranking for two keywords.. one is 9th & other is 10th position in Google.

And some others keywords are in top 60.. like 29, 32, 49, 44, 53... and so on. But 2-3 main keywords are still not showing. I don't know why.

So as you suggested i am waiting for 7-10 days to see if i gain ranking again in Google for my other keywords. Till then i don't do any kind of work on my site.

Will be happy to see all your responses including OWG, WeblinkPlus, Mugatea....

Regards..
Anjali Jain.

What comment are you expecting? you have said you are waiting so there is nothing to comment on :)

I thought perhaps anyone among all of you commnted more. :)

Has your page saturation gone down?

And, No.. not fully. Means gained ranking again on some keywords. Even got back ranking on number 1 in Google.co.in for 3-4 pages... but the main page that i want ranking back is not showing in Google. But hopefully it will be back soon.

And Thank you so much OldWelshGuy for your support... You are really very helpful person..... Love you yaar. :) :)

And also other members of this forum are very helpful.. :)
