Paypal not connecting https / ssl error

Hi

Cant seem to access the paypal website, the https part in the address bar has a line through it and its highlighted red.

the error message is saying there is an error with the ssl certificate.....

any ideas on the cause of this? It is the same on my colleagues computer.

hmm i find this worrying, might try rebooting the router and give the internet provider a call if that doesn't work.

What browser are you using? Does the browser have any plugins? Is it upto date?

tried on chrome and ie and on two computers i think it must be to do with our internet. tried rebooting the router and still the same, contacted IT and there getting back to us.

your machines maybe compromised. Your DNS, proxy or host file settings may be causing some sort of redirection. Can you see any information on the certificate? is it signed by PayPal?

just checked from my end and on downrightnow for a status report and everything is up and working. Try clearing your cache (in chrome press Ctrl+Shift+Delete, make sure you untick passwords etc as you don't want to lose them) it probably won't be this but it definitely worth a try! but seen as you've tried on multiple browsers its potentially something else, as vmhosts said above, have you been subject to any viruses etc recently? Do regular scans of your system as they can turn very nasty! If i can be of any further help just let me know

If it is affecting all computers on the network it might be a router hack or mitm attack.

I would suggest resetting everything to factory settings and fully scanning your systems.

It could be your computer clock is incorrect. My laptop does this on occasion causing certificates to appear to be out of date.

Well we still have no answers from our IT people, they said it could be something to do with them having remote access but that doesn't really explain while it is happening out of the blue. It only seems to be paypal aswell everything else is fine, including online banking
