    Help.

I wish to make a purchase to support a charity. They have advised that I 'pay through PayPal to [email protected], using the Friends & Family option to avoid charges'. I do not have a Paypal account and do not want to have one. Can anyone suggest how I do this, as the Paypal site just gives information on opening an account.

    Thanks

You can't, paying by that method is via PayPal accounts only.

They'd have to create and send you a PayPal invoice (or a money request, although that's designed to request money from friends, not for official transactions), then you can pay it by card without a PayPal account by clicking on the link.

If the objective is to make a charitable donation, and you don't want to use their preferred method of payment, can you send them a cheque?

Also, are you sure that xxx.com is a charity?

I have to say that since having a few problems with the banks not wanting to be that helpful, I've been using Santander, Nat West, barclaycard and Amex and Paypal for paying for business stock and general business stuff, and Santander work best for me as a proper bank, and Paypal works for payments on my website. Amex is trouble free for it's ease and help if you need it. barclaycard works, but seems a bit random on not letting me pay in full - as in there might well be a total of say five grand showing on the screen, but the statement dates mean that I can sometimes only pay their 'amount due' - they won't let me pay the total. Nat West just have awkward systems that they never tell you about - like the twenty grand limit on transactions a day. I opened an account to accept a large payment, which I'd have to then pay out in chunks - but they never mentioned the daily limit - but of course happily took the large deposit. Having to make a daily payment of twenty grand over a few days to clear an invoice was embarrassing. AND - I discovered that the twenty grand daily limit was across all three of my accounts, so other payments had to wait. I got a car reader from PayPal today as while I normally do mail order only - my office appears on marine plotters and GPS transponders and I've now had two customers who just knocked on the door and wanted top give me money. Paypal sent me a card reader next day delivery, it's simple and works straight away. It warned me I might have to request a lift to my daily limits, but when I checked - they'd lifted them automatically. Paypal seem even better since ebay seem to have dumped them.

I have a lot of international clients. PayPal makes taking their money so simple. And making payments across a whole range of online emporiums is a whole lot easier than getting out my CC and typing in the numbers. Can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to have a PayPal account.

Couldn't agree more.. if an onlinestore doesn't take paypay, unless it is uber competitive or the only place that seels the product, I go somewhere else

[edit] I should have said, with limited exceptions. Amazon and Expedia come to mind because I used them both frequently (well, for Expedia, up unitl COVID19)
