Parallax or multi-page?

I'm looking for a new site for something else I'm involved in and am considering options.

I'm wondering what people's views are on parallax single page sites are? I quite like the look and, as the website won't need many pages, I was thinking it may be an option.

Are there any pitfalls with this kind of site? And what is the general viewpoint on them?

Yes, the UX is awful. On a mobile phone they are just pants and for everyone else they are a pain to use.

The simpler the better the conversions. It's been tested umpteen times. Blingy sites might look pretty but they don't convert - and it's conversions that bring in the money.

i have built a few parallax sites and they are an absolute pain in the backside on mobile devices, rarely work due to the way mobiles scroll slightly differently.

I personally dislike parallax. I feel it's slightly gimmicky. And the point about mobile compatibility is extremely valid. As mobile device usage picks up more and more you don't want to be left with a site that simply doesn't work on mobile.
