Painter Decorator, need partner.

Hi there,

I am in the process of starting up a painting and decorating business, in Birmingham UK. I have purchased most equipment and have a van however I am looking for a partner. Where would be best to look? They need to be qualified C&G L2.

I've tried contact buddies I qualified with but there all working or not interested. I've thought about calling local colleges but there closed for summer now.

Any advice please?

Can`t you start on your own and then pick your partner later from one of your hard working employees?

Think long term. Getting a partner or even an employee or apprentice is probably a few years away. Have you thought about doing work which you can do on your own without any assistance until you build up a reputation and some money?

Yeah I was thinking the same myself - you need to build up your own clientele and business before looking at other options.

Also you say you are looking for a partner, but it also implies an employee - both of course are very different.

I have friends who are painter/decorators and the majority of them are self employed and work on their own the majority of the time. Why is it you think you need a partner?
