Is it worth outsourcing my adwords account? I spend around £1500 every month and currently I manage our account personally. Occasionally I get calls from companies saying they can save me money etc etc. Is this is good idea? Does anyone have any experience of these companies doing a good job for them? Sayu was the last company to approach me, anyone used them?

It all depends on how much time you spend managing your adwords, that could be spent managing your business, or making additional sales etc. Plus these companies may have a better knowledge and expertise.

Although if they save money on the adwords you might end up paying more for their charges.

Drop me an PM if you want to discuss anything further.

Hi,

Good question. I am putting my cards on the table up front and will tell you that my company offers the service you are looking for. Here is why I think you should outsource.

A good Adwords company will be managing a lot of Adwords spend, currently with us, about £250,000 per month, so we firstly have to know how to play in really competitive markets, and secondly do it every day for lots of clients. Sometimes only managing one account means you don't get a wider vision. We can write some ad copy that pulls on for one client, and then try the same hook or tactic on another. Our clients therefore get the benefit of having their own R&D team.

I think it is a good idea to have hands on practice as the company owner though, so you can be more knowledge as to what really goes on!

Some things to consider to know where you lie in the knowledge area...

Do you have more than 5 keywords assigned to one ad? (bad)
Do you split test your ads frequently? (essential)
Have you got analytics integrated with your Adwords? (a must)
Are you budgets optimised? (daily budgets suck!)

Just some things we would look at straight away.

Have a look at our google adwords webpage to see if it helps!

I think it depends on what you expect to get for your money.

As wood1e2 said, it'll free up time, so that's one benefit.

The second benefit is if you feel the PPC person would make the campaign(s) more profitable.

Finally, if you decide it's worth considering, I'd advise you to ignore those companies that call you up and go with someone that's recommended by people you trust.

Like other forms of marketing, there are a lot of cowboys out there.

Hope this helps,

Steve

There are numerous companies that offer pay per click advertising programs, and each of their terms and conditions are slightly different. For example, some of them allow you to write just about anything you want in your actual ads, while others are very strict about ad content. In addition, some pay per click advertising programs are much more successful than others. Before signing up with any of them, you should do some research to see which programs have the best reputations for helping website operators turn clicks into sales.

Wishing you all the success in the world,

i guess depends on how fast the and high the bidding changes.. i have been in UK Finance industry where cpc's are really high... it can easily go upto 10 pounds a clicks at time so monitoring the account is a must else can be fatal loss to the ROI... for other niche industries like camera phones etc.. its muh easiler

The last adwords account that I looked at was spending around £200 monthly sending traffic to a page that didn't exist!

The other few thousand sent all the traffic to the front page.

The quality score for alot of the keywords was poor and the account structure was poor.

I think it would certainly be worth chatting to a recommended Adwords business.

ok great response guys thanks!

The real business problem is the time I spend managing the adwords account. I keep adjusting and adding to the adgroups, keywords etc. but it just takes more and more time. But I don't want to pay say £150 a month for some untrained person who just uses an automated program to optimise my account. How can I be certain that they are actually doing the job and doing it properly?

I currently have 70 keywords in one adgroup so I guess I need to change that!

Also every company I approach just send me a word doc saying what they will do but the points repeat and they suggest things that we already do. I appreciate some scope of works but it would be nice if it was relevant.

The thing with Adwords is there are no hard and fast rules. What works for one campaign may not work for another so an ad group with 70 keywords isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Try experimenting with the keyword matching options and the keyword function command.
If you need more detailed advice PM me and i'll give you some tips.
