Hi All

I joined this forum in April was trying to open a cafe and deli however the person(not really a person) lied over lease and we walked away.

However every cloud has a lining I met a old friend last week and explained what happened and he knew a Indian restaurant owner who is willing to allow me to use the restaurant during the day.

The area is very good good footfall with parking student apartments across the road with solicitors offices in the same street.

The only competion is a pub serving food, a greasy spoon serving coffee in plastic cups and a couple of kebabs shops.

The decor and ambivalence is very upmarket all we need to do is install the coffee machine and grill etc in kitchen.

It is licensed therefore we can serve alcohol from 11am we are hoping to market it as a cafe, bar and grill, serving good coffee sandwiches, breakfasts, quality bar snacks and offer quality takeaway food.

My friend is a chef and he is willing to come in as a partner so far so good.

We are stuck on a name was thinking of Rendezvous, Taste Buds (restaurant called taste of india) or Timothy's what do you think?

Also any help with menu and marketing would be valuable

Thanks
Dela

I think for a new venture like yours SMS marketing could really help you. It's very simple and comprises of 2 steps. Step 1 build a list and Step 2 market to the list. People love offers and news so you are not spamming these people !.

Using SMS you know your message will get read and quickly (90% of sms messages are read within 3 minutes !)

Stats show that the response rate can be 30X what you get from traditional advertising.

Unless the recipient has signed up for the texts, I would call it spam

I agree completely but as I stated - "Step 1 Build A List" - the people opt-in because they want the latest news and offers. People love coupons - it's a fact. So these people want offers etc.. With a proper SMS system they simply reply "stop" to unsubscribe.

Now if you send them lots of messages it will annoy them so obviously any campaign has to be planned. 1 or 2 messages a month is the norm.
