Open Source CRM With Customer Portal

Does anybody have experience with an open source CRM system that allows clients to log in and review notes/documents?

I need a basic CRM but want to use it for support meetings, where meeting notes etc can be viewed by the client.

I can set this up on WP but I hoped there was a purpose-built system rather than a combination of plugins.

If you want open source specifically then SugarCRM is generally the main I know of, and it does a lot but can be fiddly from what I remember. I'd actually second @NickGrogan suggestion and go for Freshdesk instead but yeah open source then Sugar is the one I've dabbled with in the past.

Sugar is amazingly powerful, but when I last played with it, there wasn't a standard customer portal.

I will recheck it and its many forks!

It's been a few years since I last dabbled with it, but being open source I recall there was a lot of bolt-ons people had built and I do recall some customer portals - but my main issue was how complicated it was at the time to get up and running, and customised for what we at the time needed.

    Hello Paul,

One option you might consider is SuiteCRM. It's a fork of SugarCRM and is entirely open source. SuiteCRM offers a customer portal which allows them to register, log in, and access details such as related documents or records. Moreover, you have the freedom to customise the CRM according to your requirements.

One word of warning with opensource

Years ago we used one called moregroupware and tailored it to our needs. It was great but after a few years there was a spat, the product forked and became non backwards compatible which us left with either a migration and rewrite or a non supported (inc security patches) product.

Looked at this a long time ago - the customer portal is a chargeable add on for about £500! _ could buy a system off of CodeCanyon with the feature for a fraction of that!

I wasn't aware that the customer portal extension for SuiteCRM had become so pricey. While I'm not deeply familiar with SuiteCRM's intricacies at the moment, I'll delve into it given the demand and the community's need.

If I can devise a solution that doesn't require an excessive amount of time and aligns well with what you and others might need, I plan to create and release it as open-source for everyone's benefit.

We have just started to look at Suitedash.com as a replacement and have been impressed so far. As our HubSpot which was VERY good had got to £1500 a month!. SuiteDash is pretty cool for the price of £99 a month for unlimited users. If you include all the addons still only £200! Small company based in Canada, but the CEO is very old school tech guy and takes comments/feature requests etc. A friendly community on Discord as well. Not many people using in UK or Europe from what i can tell.
