Online selling - your own website or better to use Shopify, Wix or similar ?

Moreover, it solves another need you have expressed which is around not being on the hook to developers.
You don't need to be 'on the hook' to developers to run a Wordpress/Woocommerce website. Page builders like Elementor give admin and editors the ability to use drag and drop with far more functionality than template builders offer.

Hey @Byzantium - this thread has been a fascinating read. It seems like your primary need is for agility and the power to make changes yourself, quickly, to your website as one of the primary assets in your business.
No, he doesn't want to have to make any changes. He just want the site to be built and not have to do anything. Which means using developers to do everything.

Not quite !

I don't want developers involved at all if I can help it and that is the trade off of a Shopify option versus getting something bespoke.

However, the sales will only be driven from a Google Ads spend so that needs to be managed / developed / simplified and let Google do its thing.

If you are moving you current business to shopify you will need developers. And you will need someone to continually monitor and update the site. And have someone constantly monitor and update your Google AdWords account.

As has already been said, you can’t leave any only business alone if you want it to be viable. If you don’t have the time or skills to do it yourself then you need to pay someone to do it for you. Which means there is zero benefit in moving to shopify.

Welcome to the UKBF I cannot give you any 'technical' advice, but having a look at your website I am not sure its doing you any justice pretty sure others will come along with a view on this but for me I want to know what your company does and services it offers, but when I hit your web page I see streams of "about me" in my mind for what its worth thats the last tab I want to view.
Hi where is the OP website? Just curious to look.

Shopify is the most hands-off platform for business owners.

Free themes perform well. They convert because they are backed by masses of research and optimisation across hundreds of thousands of merchant experiences.

@Byzantium - Shopify also plays really nice with Google Merchant Centre (send it a feed of your products).

All you need to get started on Shopify is the basic config (logos, colours, billing + payment details), plus a CSV.

It is as simple as ecommerce gets.

Let us know which direction you head in as it will be good feedback for the community!
