One-Off Electrical Import From China

Hello all, hope someone can help.

I want to import some ultrasonic equipment from China, which includes a small electric generator. Will this have to conform to any UK/EU standards, like ce? The company I'm in talks with has shown me a certificate which looks like Australian conformity only. The equipment is for my own use, not for resale. This is my first time to import from China and I have lots of other questions but thought I'd start with this. Thanks in advance.

If you are importing for personal use, you will probably get away without certs, but for resale, it will need to confirm to all relevant EU regulations.

Thanks for the advice. I was wondering if they would be sending the items by air freight, as the overall size of the package will only be about the size of, say, a printer and no more than about 25kg. They wouldn't send this by ship would they? I was hoping it would be like buying something off ebay, though I wanted to be sure about the conformity in case customs pull it.

With that size it will likely go via courier, so probably around a few days to get to you.
