Ive not won the award, just shortlisted. Adviser of the year.
But it wasnt one of those posts where I was after the praise. Just trying to work out if there is a way I can use it to help generate more enquiries etc beyond the normal social media stuff.

Personally I think its a good recognition to have and see it as something that gives potential clients confidence that they are engaging with someone who knows what they are doing, so I would not hide it away, add it to website, email signatures etc .....

As an award-winning filmmaker, the answer is it depends... If it's an Oscar, then hell yeah. If it's 'audience choice award' in Basingstoke's third largest horror movie festival then... no.

And it depends who we're pitching to. We won one of the UK's biggest manufacturers and a horror film festival award might not be appropriate. Similarly we won a couple of conference shoots and ditto.

However, we are pitching a movie to a producer and film awards can come in handy.

As for attracting attention, how about writing a load of social posts. "How we won an award." "What does an award mean for us?" "How you can win an award," etc...

Back in the day I was always very anti PR agencies as they seemed to cost us the earth but never produced much (sorry any PR people here) but then we came across an agency who could write stories about, just about anything and tie it back to the business. Supplying them ready made to the local and national press. It worked like a dream generating a huge response and generating thousands of pounds worth of press coverage in a year.

You have a great story here for you - local business wins top award etc etc how people are stressed out about interest rate hikes, how as a local broker you have been able to guide and help people through the process etc etc write about people concerns etc etc.......... you get the idea, then send out out to your local papers. Reporters can be lazy buggers and a ready made storey coming across their desk can be very useful, give it a try

Other than that - my advice is don't, under any circumstance - start describing yourself as 'award-winning' - it's unspeakably naff!
It reminds me of when I did a mortgage for a TV/Film actress (quite famous, chances are you would have seen her in something and recognise her but wont know her name), I asked our compliance company (jokingly) if I could put mortgage broker to the stars.

They told me it had to be factually correct, so I either needed to find someone else famous or I could put "mortgage broker to the star."

So I could soon be an award winning mortgage broker to the star haha.

Use it generate some external content, with PR and SEO value.

Knowing your industry, you should be able to get some coverage from at least the publication that runs the awards, try make sure they add follow backlink to your site in it.

Talk to the big industry online magazines; e.g. Mortgage Strategy, Mortgage Introducer etc, see if they'll put an article out, ideally with a link...

Put out a press release, see if you can get local newspapers and magazines to run an online and paper based article, again, ideally with a link online!

Tell your customers and followers on your website and on social media.

We've won dozens of awards and are a bit blasé about it now - though we shouldn't be.

The first thing to do is tell your customers - they can be surprisingly interested and it's reassuring.

Do all the usual social media stuff.

Put it on your web-site and emails

    Tell the industry trade raga

Add it to your tag line here

As has been said, after that it depends on whether it's got more general or local interest, if it has contact a PR company to see if they can spin it for you.

You can always use this sort of thing to generate SEO clout.

    - Put out a PR on things like newswire
    - You can always see if you can get a couple of placements in your industries mags (either about the awards, or on the back of them as an award winning consultant.
    - Make sure you're getting link placements on any articles that mention the awards and your business you can find these with things like ahrefs or with search modifiers on google.

    Hope this helps

It really helps when someone says the same thing as the two posts above...

Just in case anyone is interested, I did win. Woop woop.

I did start to put some bits together but wasnt sure I would win so not done too much. I have put a post together for our site and will look at putting some links to it on facebook and twitter.

I will also hopefully get some artwork from the company so will put an image on our website.

    Is that about it?

If they're publicising it on any websites, trade or otherwise, make sure you get them to link back to your website.
