new website and logo

Hi, I've designed a new website and logo for my cleaning company and would like some feedback. I used Xara Web Designer and Xara Xtreme. Just click on my name and go to 'view stuart's home page' to see it.

One of the problems with the site is that the background tiles on longer pages and looks a bit messy, but I'm working on getting that resolved.

This was a right nightmare thats months over schedule. Finally glad I can get back to running my business now!

Thanks!

If anyone wants any cleaning too let me know (-:

To be honest I'd look at creating a logo that has something to do with your business. As branding is the latest thing in business marketing.

If you'd like to talk more about it PM me your details and I'll contact you when your free

Hi Stuart,

The design is clean and very nice. I love the background design, its even in my favourite colour:).

The white text links on the footer are not very visible on that background.

Your W3C CSS validation is good, you got few errors with W3C mark up (7).

Nice work, wish you the very best.

Thanks for the replies guys, and the wc3 review!

With regards to the logo having something to do with my business, it is meant to be some kind of clean water ripple or similar (I know its a bit abstract). Really though with cleaning there's not too much that looks cool which you can relate it to, aside the standard broom or rubber glove logo (-:

really like the site, esp the background, gives it that geographical identity, good work esp as its your own work.

Only one comment i'd make is to comment on your own business in the main paragraph, i'd try to make this a positive comment rather than comparing to the agency approach.

something like

We are a London based Cleaning company specialising in (enter what you clean etc) utilising our own team of experienced staff which gives you the added level of security and reliability you as customers are looking for.

or similar :)

Hi, Stuart,

Your site looks good, clean and professional. I like it. It would appeal to me.

Hope the business is doing well! I believe Rona is putting a special deal for you and will be in touch in a month or so. Let me know if you need any help!

Kindest regards

That has now been rectified. Thanks for the comments, everyone. Generally the feedback I am getting is pretty positive, and sales have almost doubled since it went live on Monday. The months of late nights designing it are thankfully paying off!

I really like it. When you said you used tools and not being a developer I thought "here we go, it will be shocking" but when I opened the page it is really nice and easy on the eyes and I tend to judge companies on their website as it is a first impression but this looks clean :)

Check the validness of the code though, there are a few errors with a simple fix that could make a difference as I know Spiders love valid code but other than that it is great :)

Another thing you could look at is making the text on the homepage actual text rather than images as this will help with SEO also.
