Hi,
I have now finally realised that I need to start a company that too in Healthcare. Having experience working as a support worker, I know the basics of running the business. I'm now worried about the registration and the legalities associated with it.
It will be really great if anyone could please answer my few questions.
1. Solicitor/Accountant - for the registration purposes
2. Staffing agency / care services
3. Policies and regulations - Any forums/set examples which I could refer to.

Thank you so much for your time. Your help will be highly appreciated. Thanks :)

2 is also massively complex

Whilst a normal recruitment/staffing agency is just covered by the "conduct of employment agencies and employment businesses regulations 2003" (which has extra special clauses for care/medical working)

Care agencies are also covered by the Health and Social care act 2008 (regulated activities) regs 2014 and the Health & Social Care Act which means you need CQC registration

How? They are not related!

Also, what are your questions - 1 & 2 are statements!

Having had a parent of a child's friend decide to set up like this having worked as a manager in a care home and thinking "wow look at all that profit the agencies are making - i could have a bit of that" I suspect this is similar.

Several things you need to know so you can begin to formulate an idea of whether you plan is even economic

Who will your clients be (as in who is paying the bill not who are the individuals) - what do they pay per hour in your area (it is usually set in stone with little wiggle room), when are the contact renewal dates and the tender dates.

What do they actually pay for - one of the big issues for care is travel time between individuals homes if you are working in the community and who is being paid for that and what can be billed for.

That is before you even start thinking about staff which is the area you may have an advantage on short term having worked in the sector - but friends/ex colleagues make the worst employees when disputes start and I can tell you for definite the sector you are in has some of the tightest margins around and that leaves very little room for wiggle and staying mates with your staff. Remember to cost in holiday pay, pension contributions, Employers NIC etc

    1. You don't need a solicitor/account to register with the CQC you can do yourself although you are likely to need them for other aspects of your business.
    2. What are you worried about in terms of running an agency/providing care services
    3. There are lots of companies that have made a whole industry in providing templates/documents for CQC registration. A two second search on Google will bring them up.
    4. https://www.cqc.org.uk/guidance-providers/registration/register-new-provider
