add new page - chose "contact page" from the templates page and that's it - leave it all blank apart from the title (contact us). That's all i do using my elegant themes template anyway. You can add your physical address to this if you want by just typing it in. in the general settings you should have added your e-mail address that the form should then use to e-mail you.

That's not a good advert for elegant themes. Have you tried using some of the contact form plugins, they are so much more usable and configurable.

Try sending a blank form from your site and you will see how naff it is.

i'm not try to advertise elegant themes - i'm just saying - it was easy to do and it works and it was simple - i just want name/email/comment with a captcha - perfect - that's all i want.

That may be what you want but form design is usually very poor. Because it is a primary action event on your site the better the form the higher the conversions.

So for example, you should have the contact form on every page, use labels, integrate the validation, provide contextual validation, put the captcha below the last field, use colours and so on.

A good form in the right places on a site will increase leads and/or conversions. Build it for your visitors not because it's easy for you.

what a load of rubbish....you may as well say that you should just have one page and put all your content on one page!

Their is a contact us button that is easy to find on every page...i don't need anything more.
I agree about the captcha should be in a better place...not sure what you are on about with labels...each box says what it wants right next to it.

You could do this and leave your security floating openly in the wind.

OR

Try this...buy (or free) a contact form plugin. I recommend Contact form 7 (free) Gravity (paid) and get your submissions stored in the db all nice and protected too.

That is how YOU lke things. But what about the person on the site looking at a product. They have a question and need to click on a link to get to a contact form and now realise they have forgotten the name of the product.

But...

If you had the contact form at the bottom of the product listing along with your telephone number and email thay don't have to click anything - they just fill in the form and send. If you have a well designed contact form you can auto fill the product name or get the form to send you the title of page they were on.

Build your site to meet the needs of your customers not how you like to do things.
