Hi guys

I am new to all this marketing business. We are a print company who design and print packaging for products but mostly in the food sector. We want to target other sectors like health and beauty such as candles and skincare.
I have gathered a potential list of 110 companies that I could target.

The problem is I dont know how best to target them to let them know who we are and what we do.

I want to come up with some cost effective quirky marketing initiatves. They need to be creative and reflect what it is we do.

Any ideas would be much appreciated??

Also need to send some cost effective direct mail to current customers any ideas what I could send?

Cheers
Laura

If you don't know how to do this why don't you pay someone who does?

In any case, quirky and creative doesn't usually work. Market reseach is what matters, and that doesn't come free. If you know who (not what) to target then it's just a matter of meeting their needs.

Consider as well that you will be competing with people who already have the contract to design and print packaging. What is it you offer that is better?

As an aside: my wife deals with companies like yours everyday and her number one question is: what is your business plan, show me the projected figures. She want's to know that you will still be trading in 5 years. If you have no money for marketing then that tells her you aren't a low risk company.

Ask for a sample, repackage it and send it back

If you have collected data for around 100 companies, you may be aware of their products. Try and get their product samples and check their packaging designs and materials.

Prepare a personalised note explaining what areas of packaging you can improve and send it with a sample design.

If you can establish benefits over current suppliers you may be invited to submit quotes.

All the Best!

You have got a great opportunity to come up with a marketing sequence which first includes a mailer with something in to get the attention of the recipient linked to what your company produces.

To do this I would first think about what problems your potential customers have that you solve as this will get their attention in the letter.

Write the letter with a headline and letter based around you solving the problem... and use what you make to put in the letter to make it stand out so people are interested enough to open your letter/package and read it... I would be thinking of a link between the headline, your product and their main problem.

I would then follow the letter up with a sequence of phone calls, emails, other mail to get engage with your list and find out what you can do for them and sell them your products.

Hope that helps

Find out who their main competitors are, do a design/package for their product and send it to the first company with a note 'Let us do the design/packaging work for you, before your competitor does!'

Go on linkedin find out who the marketing director/creative director is and make it attention for him/her.

Sounds a bit crazy but a shock factor might work.
