Hi There everyone, I'm new to this forum, having discovered it a week ago.
I am currently trying to purchase a leasehold Fish & Chip shop, & awaiting a decision on finance. I have run my own mobile Car valeting business for the last 22 yrs. but I'm getting old now & wish to stay in the warm during the winters, lol.

I know that I am jumping the gun a bit, but I have been thinking of a new name for the place. so far I have come up with 3 possibilities. Please let me know which you prefer.

1) Dodgy Dave's Fish & Chips

2) Dave's Fish & Chips

3) Rock 'N' Chips

something more creative maybe? Or a play on words? Or are you going to offer something different.........could that be a name option, eg offer pots of different dips for chips, and name it chips and dips or something?
Just a suggestion......stand out!!:)

Also (can't remember where now) there was a Chippy called Cish and Fhips..which stuck to my mind....

Ours all have such boring names: either the owner's or the location's name plus Fish Bar!

They are then shortened by the public to Mario's, Guiseppe's or whatever. Not sure that "Just going down to Dave's" has quite the same ring to it?

Yeah when my Dad bought his Chippy it was called Long John Silver...I wanted him to rename it Wong John Silver (I was a teenager back then !) and he ended up calling it HN Fish and Chips...he said it sounded likea a franchsable name..I found it a bit boring.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, keep 'em coming. I like the idea of a humorous name, without the obvious puns! I guess "Dodgy" could have bad connotations for a food outlet, No. 3 seems most likely so far. I do like Rock music, hence the name with the fishy connection as well. Not sure about my singing though, could clear out the customers fast! Alternative suggestions welcome.

Wow

You have a fair list of names now lol

I could only add (considering the musical theme you like)

Roe n Stones
The Godfather of Sole
A Fish called Melody
Sea lo Bream

I suggest you get a marketing professional for this..the puns are getting punishing! :D

Too much emphasis on the name.

Bottom line, you have to be the best in town, a destination chip shop. The best one in my town is called Well Street Fish and Chips. At least you know where to find it.

An attractive name to fish and chip eaters is "Generous Dave's" At least you'd think you were going to get a decent portion of chips then.
