I run my own business and my post does not arrive until 4pm.Despite complaining we are told this is the wa\y it is,Is there any guidelines for business post to be delivered by? We are a 2 minute walk away from the sorting office so it is not like we are in a rural part of the country

Clearly looking to far into things there.. he owns a business, wants his mail before 4PM (which is a ridiculous time tbh) so what does it really matter.. it clearly has some importance to the OP otherwise he wouldn't complain..

When I complained I was told we should receive it by 2pm.

We were offered a guaranteed delivery time but at a cost of several thousand pounds per year.

You are lucky to get yours by 4pm. Ours often comes at 5.30pm and delivery is often attempted on a Sunday when no-one is there.

If the post arrives late meaning 2 weeks after it was posted then I can see the problem, but if it is just that it is later in the day then I can't think of any real problem.
If anyone complaining feels that strongly I have a pile of letters here, who wants to deliver them anywhere in the country the very next day for less than 50p a go?

Some people may want to process what they receive in the mail that day which is mail that can't be scanned/faxed whether it is an official document or some sort of goods. Getting it in the mail at 4pm may not give them enough time to process what they receive that day and get it out in the post making for unhappy clients or missed deadlines. Just a scenario but hey who knows!

Yes ours can arrive any time during the day, particularly annoying when you're waiting to see if any customers have sent cheques and your waiting to go to the bank! They also insist on collecting the outgoing post between 1.30 - 2.00 pm when most business work till 5.00 pm. A little annoying if your outgoing post goes before the incoming arrives and there's something urgent to see to!

One thing which would be an issue is if cheques are in the post as they need to be banked by 3:30 to go through that day.

I would suggest making your business less reliant on the PO as it is not going to get better I am afraid.

Have clients pay you by BACS and communicate with email or messaging as much as possible.

Have feed back / enquiry forms on your website if appropriate and get away from paper where you can.

After coming very late for quite some time, it has suddenly changed and we have got a new Postie.

He came just after 9:00 this morning with a parcel, but although I had been up and working for an hour or so, I was still in my pajamas!

OOOps

I'd love it if all my customers would pay by BACS! Unfortunately in this industry most of them are still paying in groats, I'm lucky to get a cheque most times as usually and I quote "the lady who writes the cheques is not in till a week next Tuesday".....
