Multimedia Platform that inspires its audience to better the future

  • Showing how to live and work in an environmentally friendly way
  • To practice respectful parenting and
  • To care for one’s mental and physical health by going deeper spiritually
For working people who want a better future for our children, our multi-media platform provides articles, short stories and videos, books and courses which inspire clear actions, that will enable our world to flourish for us and the future generations.
Doesn't this describe every church, synagogue, mosque and temple?

Millions (in some cases Billions) of people working together, being better parents and improving mental health.

Does the world need another website?

Hello @NickGrogan

I agree that that should be the aim for all and
I'm yet to visit every church, synagogue, mosque and temple but the ones I've been to unfortunately do not focus on those values.

They are especially lacking in the top one, related to protecting the environment and on the second one - you may have heard of many stories where people who don't fit their mould suffer great childhood trauma because they were raised within a less than understanding religious community. It is also unfortunately quite common for people who suffer a mental breakdown in their adult life, to be ostracised instead of supported by their religious community.

So, smeaky.com with its future full suite of products and services will be serving people who need support in those 3 areas.

Cheers
Cathy

Very true. But there are already many charities and organisations helping these people. How will smeaky provide this sort of support?

This is not critisizing your idea, it's just that I have difficulty in understanding how what you offer is any different to many other similar offerrings.

We have a local website that publicises clean up days where individuals and families pitch up and do a clean up of a location. It's popular and meets all of your 3 values. It's not a business it just does what it says on the tin.

That sounds great about cleaning up litter. I don't have this in my area. On the plus side, we don't have that much litter either.

Fortunately many people are waking up to various problems and trying to do something about them, via charities and other organisation. I consider myself one of those people and my skills are in media, so I'm focusing on educating on those 3 things. Maybe you have the impression there are many of us out there, but the problems are so big that everyone needs to be doing everything we can to tackle them. Litter-picking alone will not do it.

And from personal experience, most of the courses and books out there don't show people how easy it can be to make certain changes, which will have dramatic impact. Many suggest living off-grid in the country and becoming vegan. I know how un-livable this sounds to the majority of people. And those are not even the things that will have the biggest impact, especially if only taken on by few people. The content that I'm working on at Smeaky has the goal to demonstrate ease and impact.

Some of it is self-help stuff like courses and books, where you can check off things from a list.

Other is entertainment, which informs you without you even knowing it informs you. I'm working on a picture book about an animal visiting a landfill. It's cute, it's very accessible and it teaches both the child and the parent who reads that book at bedtime, what happens to their rubbish and what to do about it.

That's the story behind the name Smeaky and tagline - let's be smart and cheeky about saving the future,

It's meant to teach the ones to want to learn, and to entertain the ones who don't know they want to learn but cheekily teaches at the same time.

I mentioned the list of products in the pipeline several times but there is also a table top game and if someone comes up with the idea maybe a nintendo game. I know some of these ideas require too much investment to tackle right away, but we can have goals and things get built brick by brick and when more people join.

Media is so incredibly powerful in teaching people, while they are having fun and empathising with characters they don't have in their inner circle.

The bonus is: creating is fun.

I get all that. What I don’t get is how your website delivers.

Books for children are great. But there are millions of them and hundreds of ways for parents to find them. What they aren’t going to do is visit smeaky on the off chance you have a book for sale.

Nothing to do with you admirable values, it’s all about marketing. You could get a co-founder but it’s a marketeer you need.

You are right, every business needs to work on marketing and customer acquisition.

I don’t need a CO-founder, I want one.

Both statements are true independently of each other.

The website is where all products will be accessible and sold with the best margin but most will be also sold on other marketplaces and brick and mortar stores. This is common practice.
