Motivational Sayings

(Don't know if this got deleted last time - I'm sure I posted it).

What is/are your best motivational saying?

My two have to be:

"Some people dream of success... others wake up and work hard at achieving it!"

and

"The door of opportunity won't open unless you give it a push!"

These have really struck home with me since I heard them last week, even to the point of I will be starting to cold call businesses - despite the fact that I really hate doing it.

My current favourite is:

Life is too short. Make the most of every day...

Have dreams and make them happen.....

I think it was someone from this forum who quoted these wise words.

I also like:

We are all where we are, because whether one is in the gutter, or at the top of ones game, it is by their own choice.

But more for the personal reasons of when it was said, rather than what it means.

I like these:
If you want to change some things in your life, you have to change some things in your life. This is because if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten.

If you had a face like mine, you'd punch me right on the nose, and I'm just the fella to do it.

Well Stan always makes me laugh which spurs me on! :)

and I've always liked this one. Don't know where it comes from originally but have seen it one someone's tag line in another forum:

Never stand up to an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience

I also have Kiplings "If" adorning my walls. Love that poem.

So do I. And Maya Angelou's 'Still I rise'

According to an old friend, this was one of her granma's favourites: 'Worry is like a rocking chair; it keeps you busy and gets you nowhere.'

I can't remember where I got these other two from:

'It's not what you think you are that holds you back, it's what you think you are not.'

'Diamond was just another piece of coal that did well under pressure.'

So, how did the cold calling go? :)

Ah, well, yes, the cold calling, erm...

Actually, as I was going to be calling firms I had mailed to over six months ago; then I thought it would be best to redo the mail out. That will do three things:

1/ Remind them we are here
2/ They will see that have our new details
3/ When I call them up, I won't feel quite so bad (hopefully) as it being a completely cold call.

But after a long discussion with the wife/business partner, we agreed that as we have just recently redone our telephone answering service (including a new free 1 week trial, ahem) we should promote this to certain businesses.

So the last two days I've sent out lots of letters and will follow them up early next week. I will, promise!

I personally don't believe in luck.

"The harder I work the luckier I get,"

I think this originally came from Gary Player (it's been attributed to several golfers, though). He putted a really long shot and someone called out from the watching crowd, "Gee, Gary, you sure are lucky."

To which he replied "Yep. The more I practice the luckier I get."

Ho ho, thanks guys. I have an A4 sheet of 12pt inspirational sayings because I truly hate all sorts of things (being a bit of an introvert I need mountains of inspiration). Here's a few;

I dream of men who take the next step instead of worrying about the next thousand steps - Theodore Roosevelt

Success in life consists of going from one mistake to the next without losing your enthusiasm. - Winston Churchill

There aren't any rules around here. We're trying to accomplish something.- Thomas Edison

A manager once said to me

"Dont work harder. work smarter" I thought what business book did this plonker just read.

A lack of profit is like a cancer, but a lack of cashflow is like a fatal heart attack.- Theo pathetis

There are three reasons for going to work,
one to make some money
Two to have some fun
Three dont forget to make some money
