In my mond you cant beat word of mouth!

Superserve your customers and they will reccommend you :)

I am still in office now sorting out a customers problem :) - I know the customer is very grateful as the problem was caused by them but by sorting it for them at this time of night will make them tell anyone else they know that we work to get the job done :)

Honest answer... no

Do you have a tips on strategies? or a good link to a website for a starting point?

1. Identify your product or service
2. Identify a customer for your identified product or service
3. Identify the benefits that make your identified customer likely to want your identified product or service.
4. Identify where your identified customers hang out, what they read, which sites they browse, where they live etc
5. Develop some suitable creatives, or ask someone else to do this for you.
6. Blow your advertising budget by doing your brains on blackjack.

Hey Guys,

Has anyone suggest any really effective advertising methods other than the usually online advertising and printed flyers etc?

There are lots. But that doesn't mean they'll be effective for you.

IMO, you need to start with 4 things:

- who do you want to advertise to?

- where can you target them?

- how much would that cost?

- how much you can afford to spend to get a sale or enquiry?

Answer those 4 questions and you should be well on the way to figuring out what may or may not be possible for you.

What is your total monthly/annual budget?

There are many ways to advertise. If you're doing something locally, like joinery, use good old fashioned offline methods such as newspaper ads, Yellow Pages, shop windows etc.

Some might say that these methods have flaws and in particular the shop window advert wont generate interest. It depends. I regularly look in ONE shop window near where i live, as the display is clear, the shopkeeper said it would be £2.50 per week in that window, which is cheap advertising really and long term it would probably show.

I've just created an AdWords account with Google, the Cost Per Click to my site through a Google Ad is 80 pence, capped at £15 per day. This is just one in a long line of advertising methods for me, i also sponsor a roundabout on a busy route and some City Centre flower boxes.

My ideal, but costly, form of advertising would be local radio. I know it will work for me. As i said though, it's costly.

With everything, always drive a hard bargain. Suggest an informal clause with the advertiser. I felt i fleeced my council when i sponsored the roundabout and flower boxes. Whatever you choose, give it a go.
