More than one hosting?

Hi

Just wondering. I have one hosting which allows php and msql.

I would like to have another website domain name to point to this hosting so I can use php. Can I do this?

i.e

webgamesplayer.com/index.php
anotherdomain.co.uk/index2.php

Or is this request known as Domain Name Mapping £25 on my current hosting?

You cannot host more than one website on one hosting account unless you have a multi-domain hosting account (reseller account) OFFICIALLY.

You can "fudge" it though :wink:

It is possible to host another totally different website if you are allowed to create sub-domains - basically you would have website1.co.uk and then create the sub-domain website2.website1.co.uk and then point the domain name to the sub-domain... It's not pretty and looks very unprofessional - there are probably search engine implications too.

and no - it's not "domain name mapping £25" - £25 !!!!!! Jesus - that's a bit steep for what is basically a 1 minute job to setup - other wise known as domain "aliasing", this is where you have website1.co.uk and "map" website2.co.uk to it - visitors to website 2 will see the same as the visitors to website1 but the address bar in IE will still say website2

another bad workaround would be if your domain registrar does "framed forwarding". also awful from an seo perspective.

Lisa you could always use a host that allows multi domain hosting from the same account (we do and at least 1 other on the forum does)

I've got about 12 domain names for my lottery business. They all link to one hosting package that has nothing to do with lottery. I think this may effect my position in search engines
