Does anyone know the best place to get decent lists from, such as new businesses in the area etc

Any pointers would be great,

Thanks:)
Pauline

Specifically Thompson does a new business alert list. Be warned, a lot of people use the same list for marketing so you be among several people calling up at the same time offering your services to the prospect.

MarketingFile are more expensive than MarketSafe but offer much better segmentation. And you can buy small lists without paying the earth.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Iklemiracle - I have sent you a pm.

10 Yetis - If you don't mind me asking - What do you use Market safe for? What kind of lists etc and how do you contact them? (letter/email etc)

Just wondering what would be our best target and approach.

Thanks
Pauline

id suggest one or the other both would be too much, and think of the expense too. But definately follow it up with a call, send them out in small batches so its easier to manage when calling back, for example if you sent out 500 by the time you got to about 200 the others would have forgotten about the mailer.

A 2 or 3 tiered mailer will sometimes work a little better as it will get your name in their memories a bit more but if you are following up with a telephone call i would say this is not always needed.

With regards to a flyer and a letter yes but you do run the risk of making it fel more like spam and so prospects may x file it a bit quicker or just look at the flyer and bin the lot.

I would hand write the envelopes as long as you are not sending to many it always gets opened that way.

Happy to advise further if needed. I would hazard a guess at an 8% response rate with telemarketing and mailer if you pitch it right. I have seen results as much as 35%.

I'd recommend Marketsafe - used them for a long time. Don't quote me on it, but as far as I'm aware, their Premium Data Lists can get you lists of new businesses, businesses at home etc.

Personally I mostly used their Media Solutions search - ideal for myself, altho not sure how it'd be applicable to your business.
