Managing multiple Linkedin accounts?

I have a personal Linkedin account, and through that I have a business account / page..

On my personal account I have the roles and history that suit my Linkedin business page that appeals to the business profiles I am looking to connect with.

I want to know how I would manage the other business, which is in a completely different niche.. I don't want clients who deal in footballs seeing that i also sell coconuts..

Is there a way to manage multiple 'identities' I suppose would be the best way to describe it?
Or would it be 2 separate Linkedin personal profiles?

    Anyone else have this problem?

I have been on linkdin since it began and I dont get it

Most of them on there want to sell me something

Let's say I have a company that sells footballs... and I manage the football businesS page through my personal page.. As they are linked..

And I have a business that sells cococnuts.. And have a business page on Linkedin that is about coconuts...

On my personal page I don't want my work history as having two businesses alongside each other as selling coconuts and footballs.. as I want to look like I am focussed in one industry...

I don't want the football customers seeing I am also busy in coconuts, does this make sense?

I think you can amend your work history on your personal profile - you don't have to disclose everything?

They are going to find out anyway. That’s how LinkedIn works.

Yes but I run both businesses at the same time...
I don't want my football clients coming on my page and wondering why the hell I am selling coconuts
That's what I am saying - how would they know you are selling coconuts, if you don't add it to your main profile?

Happy to have a Zoom and share my screen to show you what i mean if that's any help!

If you don't want them to easily know you sell coconuts don't put it on linkedin. They will still find out, it will just take them a little longer.

But I want to look professional in the eyes of both markets... and only have 1 linked in currently... And don't think it's a good idea to look like I am doing bits of everything, rather I would want to look focussed in one area only (respective to each marklet)??

If you add both then people researching you will find both. You can’t keep them separate.

Are you the sole director for both? Can't someone else deal with the account for the second one? Do they both need to be on LI?

I think your doing something wrong on LinkedIn and your not getting the required exposure
I can't find anyone selling coconuts

Seperate profiles but think you are way overthinking this. Seperate also won't really work as it'll still be easy to connect them together for anyone with any digital knowledge.

Just have the business profile posting from the business profile and not personal, then they won't see you are behind it unless they dig further.

Generalise your personal profile and have multiple business pages, with page products for each business page.

    Examples:

    1. A sports business page with separate product pages selling footballs, kits, equipment etc.

    2. A fruit & vegetable business page with product pages selling coconuts and smell durian etc etc.

    3. A sex toy business page with product pages selling . . .whatever you feel is desired.

You can only have 1 personal profile, so look for something to connect all the businesses.

    Importer & supplier of quality products. . . .?

But people will still go from business A to your profile and then business B and see you sell coconuts.

Can't you use two separate profiles as follows:

Let's say your full name is Philip John Smith.

Profile 1: Philip Smith - Football (include all relevant football stuff)

Profile 2: Philip J Smith - Coconut (include all relevant coconut stuff)
Yeah that might be a solution...

Surely I can't be the only one who wants to disclose that he has 3 businesses, selling footballs, coconuts and sex toys?

If you don’t want disclosure don’t publish the details on LinkedIn.

I liked the above post by mistake. (I meant to quote the post)

You can only have 1 Linkedin profile.

Anything else falls foul of Linkedin's terms and conditions.

I advise not to try and do it, as you'll end up getting banned.
