Why would you want to do this?

Surely not because you think it will help your ranking.

@Dimitri Frixou as someone who owns an online content agency you should have an understanding of how online marketing works.

That being the case why would you want to post on random blogs?

You will know your starting point is to research the quality and audience reach of blogs read by your target audience. Then liaise with the blogger to develop content they would find of interest.

I do hope you haven't asked this looking to place client content.

I find the comments above a bit lecture-y!
Surely he's allowed to put himself forward to guest blog without being put down?
I myself have a successful blog and am looking for more guest posting opportunities than continuing to turn out my (rather excellent!) content on the site. My SEO strategy is more video on my site and more guest blogs offsite. What's wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with that - except that the SEO benefits are miniscule.

Guest blogging has for the most part gone the same way as the now discredited article submission sites.

And adding youtube video to your site only benefits Google not you

Actually it does help with rankings. It all depends on how good the blog is and the quality of your content.
I agree. But @Dimitri Frixou gave no qualification to his request suggesting that he would be happy to post anywhere irrespective of the quality and relevance of the blog. So it probably wouldn't help his ranking.

    Hi All,

I own a social media and content marketing agency in East Mids,

Just wondering if anyone owns any blogs I can guest post on?

    Thanks

    Dimitri

Welcome to the forum. Probably not the best welcome you could have had. I do have few blogs but I doubt they would offer any value to your business. They are in the fishing and health niches.

For anyone wondering: guest blogging does work if done correctly. Google is not a 'human robot' who can predict the future of the world. Also, guest blogging works for other forms of marketing and not just for SEO.

For the most part it isn't. The opening post on this thread demonstrates how not to do it.

He asked - but didn't carry out the action. So, it does not mean he would jump at the opportunity to post on every blog. Also, as the member in question runs a content marketing agency it would be normal to assume his clients work in a number of different niches. So, it's not uncommon for such person to have connections with 100s of different bloggers. :D

Still doesn't change the fact that most guest blog posts aren't done well. There are some excellent sites whose guest writers create great articles but for the most part the posted material is junk and Google has already warned that you may well suffer penalties for doing so.

Show us the article that Google says blogging does not work.

There are loads of examples of this. Just about all reputable SEO blogs have written articles on the topic with references to various google posts. And they all agree that churning out content for publication on multi-author blogs for SEO is iffy.

Being invited to write high quality material to well moderated sites where the content is relevant and real value is still worth doing. But not for SEO.

An example of how it should be done: http://www.copyblogger.com/blog/

And how not to do it: http://www.topfinanceblog.com/

ABSOLUTELY NOT. do NOT use that site, it will get you/your client penalised :)

Oh no, that's terrible. Have you got any data to support your conclusion, please?

If true, then it has serious repercussions.

Edit: I found this which states MBG was penalized - but I can find no record of legitimate sites using MBG being penalized. Can you provide this, please?

Eesh. That second one. Although the sidebar does have a link to an article called "an end to guest posts."

I actually guested on Copyblogger once, so I'd just say that anyone expecting that even a post on your industry's leading authority blog will deliver long-term benefits will be disappointed.

A well-written, perfectly-placed guest post will deliver a short term boost in readers, and maybe a small SEO benefit, but you really need to be looking at long-term partnerships.

The handful of posts I submit to Procopywriters each year have delivered far bigger results than a one-off Copyblogger post.
