If I may interject without caught in the hand bag cross fire;)

The business model the OP describes is very do-able, I have seen and subbed from (many years ago) company's operating the idea described. In my case it was as a rigger, TV aerials and satellite dishes, but the principles are the same and they rely on the fact tradesmen are cr*p at generating work (no offence intended it's a generalisation). Wheather the OP can manage this? Well it don't look hopeful.

Thank you but why do you think it don't look hopeful? I am a good plumbing and heating enginner with over 20 years in the trade i'm just looking for someone who is good at orginising things like advertising etc

Fair enough, I got the impression from this thread you are looking for subbies or a business partner. What you are looking for is someone to help with marketing, there are plenty of top marketing people on this forum. take a look round, ask questions and read-up.

Good luck.

Granted.. you may be a good plumber etc...

Have you had experience of a 24 hour call out service?

How many jobs did you get on average per night?

Was it busier at weekends?

Were the customers involved in the pub/restaurant trade?

( pubs/restaurants .. mainly drainage.. blocked toilets etc.... )

I would go with Estwig in saying that it don't look too hopeful..

would like to be proven wrong

PS: whats the point in calling people "muppets". Does being in the trade 20 years confer that privelege to you?:)

Easy people, the fella has taken a lotta stick and given as good as he has got.

Is this not a forum, for discussing business??

Can we not try and help, respect to the fella for coming back at us.

Your normally the first to jump on people like this, you must be getting old;)

Everybody is trying to offer constructive critiscism and advice, but he dosent want to know, he has the perfect business, and now he is willing to give one lucky member an oppurtunity of a lifetimem, as long as you dont mind being called muppet and gaylord, then hes the perfect partner:p

Sounds good.... and always ready to help.

Personally, I cannot see any subbies coming on board.... 24 hour call out.... for a 50% of the take..... having to pay their own expenses etc.... unless they are guaranteed a set sum.

If they were guaranteed that.. then they would not be deemed as subbies.. but employees... and that brings everything into a new ball game.

There is a lot of re-thinking to be done. a new plan ...

certainly ain't easy and sustainable in its present form

IMHO

No, sure you start by having a pop, see if they come back at ya, most disappear. But some realise the power a forum like this has, with the people and the information on offer, then they may even go on to contribute.

But continually going at someone, especially someone who has a sense of humour and obviously has an understanding of forums, don't help none of us in the long run.

The idea of coming here is help and learn.

Look you ain't gonna find a business partner, forget it, why would someone go into business with you?? What have you got to offer??

In business, generally, partners don't happen, especially if you are looking to sit on your ar*e and someone else makes you rich.

Nothing wrong with your ideas, but your website is pants, drop yell, they are t*ssers and spend time reading the sales and marketing section on here and the SEO stuff.

Come on here regular like and contribute where you can and people will be more willing to help you back.

Your comment about the 7" c--k had me is stitches, good luck.

I tell you what mate, you ask for my site and i give you it, but you refuse to give me yours, and then say im hiding behind a keyboard.

I will reserve judgement about you, as the last time i though i had met complete tool, he turned out to be really helpful and full of good advice.

I hope you change your atitude and start becoming an active member on the forum as it would be good to bounce ideas off a fellow plumber, im sure we could help each other.

However so far you have shown that it is impossible , to have a constructive business chat with you.

Anyway best of luck with your business venture, and if you want any help or advice then you know where i am, i will try to help.

HTML:
i want someone who is also a plumber/ heating
engineer that can assist in the calls until we can get enough contractors

In my opinion partnerships rarely work if your both bringing the same thing, your better of struggling a bit or employing someone to do what you cant.

...i dont know whos been filling you with all this sh.t but just do it the the traditional way.

Ark at you... Victor Meldrew :D

Sorry, couldn't let that comment go as normally it is you who gets a bashing for being innovative :)

Anyway, to the Op, good luck. For what my opinion is worth £29 per hour is probably ok on the labour side and if you give a few recruitment/temping agencies a call they will give you the going rate in your area and send CV's through of the types of people you could get for that rate. Not sure though whether you would get a "business partner" type person who could contribute by way of sales and marketing though.

:)

Well.. guess i shall go to bed!!

Never was any good at this 24 hour call out lark...

I have never encouraged it. Reasons

1. You must have a different team for the night work... and they only do the night work. You cannot have the same people doing the day shift and doing a night shift.. in rota. ( been tried and never worked)
2. If they don't turn up after being called.. one faces huge problems in the morning.
3. These days the money required to sustain this just aint worth the aggro. I know a company that only does night work... earn good money I believe.

My guys work from 8am to 4 pm.
no overtime.. but... they will finish the job they have started even if it takes an extra couple of hours. ( They don't ask for extra dosh)

Good night all.... way past my bedtime:)

is this your site http://www.assuredplumbingandheating.co.uk/?

You obviously havent paid your web designer, i would advise trying to get that message taken off as it will be bad for your rep

Domain name: assuredplumbingandheating.co.uk Registrant: ArtistswebInternational

Domain name: assuredplumbingandheating.com - available

If Artistsweb are doing the site it could be pretty good, they appear to have a nice portfolio.

I havent heard the term gaylord since the eighties. I thought this was turning into a retro abuse thread for a minute.

Just a thought anyone reading this thread is seeing what type of person they have to work with as a partner. Not the best pr if genuinely looking for someone as a partner.

Depends whereabouts you are in the USA

There is a good Restaurant in LA called Gaylords.. ( been there since the 70's)

Also branches in London.. Albermarle street.. etc
Branches in Mumbai.. Delhi.. HK..

Old established outfit I believe
