Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good Mailing List Plugin for Wordpress which gives users the option to enter their Name/Email into a Sidebar Widget.

The plugin doesn't need to have the ability to send emails but would be nice to export subscribers details in CSV format or similar.

I also find that Contact Form 7 is another great plugin.

If you're interested in building an email list then I'd recommend signing up to MailChimp for the free account (only down side is you can't build AutoResponder campaigns on the free account) and then install MailChimp for WordPress Lite.

Aweber is another great email service provider.

With contact form 7, there is an additional plugin, contact form 7 to database http://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7-to-database-extension/ which then allows you to build up the signups and then extract.

You can also easily create an instant autoresponder response with contact form 7. Although CF7 isn't the easiest beast and I don't like the default style of validation / send messages

Although, if you are serious about email list then Mail Chimp or Constant Contact, or any CRM (zoho, capsule, sugar etc) and just integrate their forms directly.

@fisicx did you manage to work out a way of integrating Akismet to your form, like CF7 has. I'd love to have a better alternative to CF7 / Grunion / Jetpack

I think you will find all plugins (not just CF7) put code in the header on all pages. You can add detection scripts to plugins but it makes the site really clunky. The load times for CF7 and other plugins is tiny compared to all the caggage (image sliders and other detritus) people add to their sites.
