If you want a logo that looks like 1,000's of others out there go ahead. Logo Design takes time, adding the personality to a logo so it represents you as a business. This is your brand and should not be a quick £10 job!

Have you had a look at the site mentioned in the OP?

You're looking at a minimum of around £100 for a logo, and a lot of the examples are actually very good indeed.

you are not just developing your logo...its about developing your BRAND - everything your business stands for, the foundation it stands on - this isn't something you should skimp on but this thread will happen again and again...

...so I totally know how Amanda feels! ...Expired!

I know this is a completely unproductive thing to say, but posts like this (especially after reading the 100th one) and all the usual comments after it, just make me want to expire.

Every designer on the planet knows how I feel.

Amanda

So how much is a fair price for a logo in your eyes?

I'm guessing its a lot more than your average logo designer if you're too embarrassed to list your prices on your own site :D

It really depends on what the logo is for!

Large corporate companies looking for a brand are going to use design agencies and a graphic designer!

If your a small company or an owner of a blog looking for a good logo/ image then why not use crowd sourcing sites?

I do cartoon logos . They are a different kettle of fish altogether because the concept is predetermined as they are generally intended to illustrate the service as oppose to being infinitely random which of course general logos are.

The cartoons are drawn by hand (pen and ink) so software can't be used for that (no templates are involved) but software is used for the text ad backdrops and I use design software for those elements. This ensures a nice professional crisp finish which is unique and usable.

If you have a natural creative talent making a logo is a piece of cake with some half decent photoshop/paint software.

On the other hand, it's also easy to completely mess it up and end up with something that looks like a child made it if you don't know what you're doing.

I think the most difficult part is understand that a guarantee that a £100 logo is better than a £25 one.

I think its just a matter of chance which comes out nicer.

How much was your logo?

I agree that the same outcome should come of a 25pound and a 100 pound one.

Some logo designers charge 500

I paid $571 for the logo on this:

That was via a design competition site... I've had better logos for 20% of the money elsewhere.

If you need a logo or any type of design, be it graphic or website design, try posting a request here > Graphic Design Forums

We have lots of UK based freelancers and design agencies all available for work...although don't expect to pay peanuts!!

What happens when your client wants to brand up their vehicles? or have some large signage produced...how do your hand drawn images scale up?

If its done in illustrator after its drawn wouldn't it be in vector format anyway?

I convert all my line drawings to vector and I edit them in a vector program so if they want vector they can have vector. Most the samples on my site were edited in a vector program and saved as vector files.

That's what I offer on my site, vector or bitmap, or both, whatever is required.

I create most of my vector work in Flash as the majority of them are used for animations. I prefer the way Flash works to Illustrator. For van prints, etc, I provide my artwork as a large scaled up PNG file, though if the customer wants it as a AI file I will provide that, but its rare that it is required if a quality transparent file is provided at the right size
